Is freedom of "thought" a real thing?

Like for example, if I meet someone that I don't like, am I allowed to "think" he is a terrible person???


Cus if I say he is trash, maybe he will argue with me that no I'm not trash you are just dumb. Or something?

Freedom of thought is a real thing, you can think whatever you want. Freedom of saying, not so much. Imagine somebody behaving badly, you can think he/she is a worthless piece of trash, but you wouldn't call them that. It could lead to conflict or worse.
