I don't think that Danzo really had any effect on Orochimaru, because he began to change when his parents died. Then he experienced the deaths other people around him and saw the suffering that this caused. I think that Orochimaru was probably using Danzo to further his own goals. Danzo probably provided the test subjects, material, and the funding.
Orochimaru was originally trying to figure out how to either live long enough to see his parents again or how to resurrect them. This was from what Hiruzen told him about reincarnation when he was really young. He was kind of like Sasori in that they both had misguided ways of looking at the world and protecting the ones that they loved. This eventually turned into them realizing their own mortality and trying to figure out ways to permanently cement their legacies and experimenting on other people. Sasori turned himself into a puppet in an attempt to live forever, and Orochimaru learned how to transfer his consciousness to new bodies.
