Is Asuma overlooked?

I feel like Asuma Sarutobi is a very overlooked ninja. With his taijutsu skills and his blades (pretty much lightsabers).
He has decent jutsu pool and and a boxing style of fighting with his wind blades.

He died due to his poor patch up against hiden. His blades are pretty hard to block so i think he could go toe to toe with most high level jonin ninja.

How powerful do you think he really is or do you all think he is fodder ninja?

he is a Jounin and was tossed to deal with Akatsuki so people had faith in his abilities, rather again he is a close range fighter and was pinned with a bad match up without any knowledge

we will see his abilities future with his daughter seeing as apparently she can do the same blade stuff as him

I really think his wind chakra blades with his taijutsu would beat most close quarters fighters. I really wish we saw more of him.

If Hidan hadn't killed him, the nicotine would've got him next. I agree, poor match-up and I consider his awakening chakra blades in his Ninja Storm moveset to be canon.

He lost to a S-class shinobi so of course he's not a fodder. He's from the sarutobi clan too
