Avatar Korra has fallen and Republic City is in ruins. The Equalist Rebellion turned into a terrible decades-long war across the globe. Many lost their lives and homes, and now the City is in shambles, being rebuilt by those who were previous caretakers. The former glory of the Four Nations has been reduced to terrible crime, corrupt politicians, and vampant poverty. The new Avatar is lost, and the four Nations have reverted back to the ancient ways of complete isolation. Benders all over the world have struggled to find balance between the distrustful Nations and learn without a unifying guiding leader.
A safe school was created for peace and unity between the benders of the world. After thirty years of hard labor, the Academy was built between two unifying rivers outside the ruins of the City as the world’s center of knowledge and learning. Students from all nations and backgrounds are welcome to the Academy as a new generation of peacekeepers. But can they possibly rebuild the ruins of a once-harmonious world on the current verge of war?
Locations in The Academy
The Academy is located on a high cliff nearby Republic City, with two waterfalls on either side of the building. There are over a thousand rooms inside the Academy, including safe Earthbending and Firebending arenas, a swimming pool connected to the waterfalls, two Great Halls for important social events, and a hospital. The Academy has a landing balcony for airbenders who wish to arrive through flight, but otherwise, the only way in is through guarded iron doors in the front.
The standard classroom features state-of-the-art textbooks and resources on academic subjects not relating to bending (including, but not limited to: mathematics, geography, chemistry, biology, language studies, religion, culture studies, and art.
One of the biggest rooms in the Academy, the Archives contain all of recorded knowledge in the world at the current moment. Rare manuscripts, as well as the latest book publications may be found within the shelves of the Archives. As such, there are often visitors to the Archives who do not attend as students, but simply as scholars. There are fireproof reading rooms for firebenders with allergies.
The Firebending Dorms are located on the Southern side of the Academy, and accommodates three people per individual dorm. The dorms use fireproof technology to prevent any potential fires in the available fireplaces for practice. The dorms all lead to the Firebending arena located near the center of the Academy, as well as the beach and cave areas. Each person receives their own bed/fireplace/desk area. There are cleaning services every week.
The Waterbending Dorms are located on either side of the two waterfalls flowing through the Acdemy. Each dorm opens to a view of the lakeside and may be accessed through stepping stones outdoors. Each dorm accommodates three people and contains a small pool inside for extra waterbending practice. There is a communal table for study and a shared wardrobe. There are cleaning services every week.
The Airbending Dorms are located on the Northern side of the Academy, nearby the landing dock for flight travel. Each dorm holds up to three students, with a shared desk area. Each dorm opens to a view of the mountainous cliffs of the Academy, as well as a view of the waterfalls flowing below. Each dorm leads to a communal meditation room in the center and has their own balcony for flight practice. There are cleaning services every week.
The Earthbending dorms are located on the Western side of the Academy, nearby the Waterbending dorms. They are specially designed treehouses built into the surrounding forest and are all connected with a series of ladders and rope bridges. The Earthbending dorms have three people to a treehouse, with an individual studying area for each house. All the dorms lead to the Earthbending arena in the center, as well as the nearby forest area. There are cleaning services every week.
