Intelligence: Itachi or Tsunade??

It has been stated time and time again that times were different in this manga... Your point doesn't make much sense , as Orochimaru also graduated the academy at 6 and so did Jiraya... Jiraya was FAR from a genius at that age.. he was comparable to naruto or konohamaru from the flashbacks we've seen...

Orochimaru was the only one dubbed "plain genius" of the sannin.. And orochimaru said himself that compared to sasuke, his genius hype was totally undeserved..

And did you know why oro said that about Sasuke? due to the Sharingan.

Well, since everyone here already knows about Itachi's intelligence, I'd like to speak a little about Tsunade's, if that's ok.

She was hailed as a prodigy in the medical field when she was young. I mean, as we all know, she made the medical ninjutsu and made the rules that are followed up to nowadays.

She knows how to stay strong on her own two feet, and also, like we can see from here, her intelligence isn't only about medical ninjutsu, as she calculates the survival rate of a group, which implies strategical thinking.
She made those many developments in the field of medicine (which, in itself, requires a great deal of intellect), not only from a side, but as she says, a vast knowledge.

Also, as a Hokage, well, you need to be smart, you don't put just any Hokage on the lead.
As Hokage, she routinely formulates teams of ninja whose abilities best complement specific missions and synergise well with one another, and also formulates strategies based upon intelligence gathered.

We clearly saw in these situations how she dealt and calculated possibilities and in the end she sent the members who synergised with each-other in order to maximise the success rate of the mission.
We also know that ninja of high intellect are expected to be capable of calculating incredibly complex tactical figures, which may help Tsunade evaluate the best course of evasive action to take, even during the heat of combat.

As well, as we know, Jiraiya hailed her skills back in the days, that were able to bring victory to Konoha, in the Second World War.
Even in the battle with Madara, she tricked him in using herself as a tank, in order to make an opening for the other Kages, as well as, forced him to use Mokuton Shadow Clone. And I know, you'll say Madara didn't say anything about that, but you can clearly see this watching his body language.
Anyway, as I said, we all know about Itachi's high intelligence, but I think we should forget about Tsunade's, which is not only medical intelligence as well as battle/strategical one.

Hmm, I'm going to go with Itachi. Since it's overall smartness, I'd say Itachi has more feats, either way.

- Hailed as a genius as a boy, his academy teacher admitted in teaching Itachi nothing, but instead Itachi did everything on his own.

- Absolutely demolished the ranks. Making it as an Anbu captain at age 13

- Battle prowess. His abilities to deduce his opponents attacks are almost unparalleled.

- Gained praise as being a genius from multiple figureheads in the manga, including Kabuto and Orochimaru

- His ability to think ahead. He was able to figure out a plan, a plan which allowed Sasuke to eventually kill him, and later take his eyes. While he failed in what he intended, his original plan to have Sasuke kill him and take his eyes happened. Even going as far as planting Amaterasu in his eyes, should Obito ever try and manipulate Sasuke.

I would never really understand people who think Itachi is a battle strategist when he has shown no real strategic feats in the manga. Itachi is more like a great insight fighter, using his insight to take advantage in the battle, so he is more like in the analytic category, not strategist like Shikamaru or Shikaku can be for example. I think people mix things too much when talking about intelligence or talent. Itachi can't be considered as more talented or intelligent than Tsunade and vice-verse. There are domains where Tsunade exceeds Itachi by far like in a medical domain for example. She can be considered as more talented than him in this category as well

Itachi is not just smart because of his battle prowess with MS, he was a natural genius that can see through almost any jutsu and come up with a strategy in almost an instant. He see's ahead of the game and predicts underneath the underneath.

Tsunade is smart for creating the medical ideal's of konoha, and an extremely talented medical shinobi, but smarter then Itach in battle prowess, not even close.
