Shunsui Kyōraku woke up from his second afternoon nap to the sound of children laughing and playing. Letting out a sigh, he removed his straw hat from his face and sat up. After spending a few minutes convincing himself of the importance of his appointment, he stood up and draped his kimono across his shoulders. Time to go...

On arriving at the rendezvous, Shunsui realizes that he is actually on time. Since his tutor is nowhere to be found, he decides to indulge himself in the drinking of some sake. He withdraws a small flask with a cup from his haori and pours himself a generous amount. After taking a swig, he sits cross-legged on the ground and places the flask by his side. As he takes in the wonderful scenery of the terrain, he wonders who his tutor will be and what they'll be like.

, androgynous frame set her foot onto the training grounds. Looking at her, one could only but wonder if she was a guy or a girl. She took a single kunai and skillfully navigated it through her fingers before descending it forth towards her new student. However to a kunai there was a small bombs attached which would just before reaching him explode, releasing but a wave of smoke.

"Look out."

She whispered.

"Here to learn Smoke? If so; quickly; what do you know about it?"

Just as he was chillaxing on the ground, a random guy/girl appeared and hurled a kunai at him. Cho–Cho–Chotto ma~tsu te kudasai!, he stuttered, as he struggled to get up from his sitting position. As the bombs explode, he is forced to hop a few steps back. With the smoke blocking his view of this fellow, he heaves a sigh of relief. That was close.... Hearing the feminine voice speak, Shunsui wondered why she looked so manly to begin with. However, he proceeded to answer the question thrown at him. Well, Sensei-chan...Smoke is literally the visible vapour, gases, and fine particles given off when a material is burning. Due to the rapid combustion of the paper tags on the kunai, you threw, an explosion occurred. This explosion prompted a rapid and violent burning process which has resulted in this smoke all around us. Smoke ninjutsu on the other hand is the ability to manipulate this smoke by imbuing it with chakra. This allows one to give shape and form to smoke, control it to either attack or defend, or even mimic it's properties and turn oneself into smoke; the possibilities are endless.
