Theorem: Ever since the Infinite Tsukuyomi (IT) was used, everyone has been under it. More specifically, it translates into everyone being under IT, but the ramifications of what happens in the real world are transposed into the IT and the reverse happens to a certain degree. The mechanism for this is unknown and complete speculation.
Proof:
Observe that IT puts whoever is affected by it into a deep genjutsu. Clearly, whatever happens in any genjutsu can make people either become incredibly fatigued or have them pass out (ex. when Itachi used Tsukuyomi on Kakashi in Konoha when both Itachi and Kisame were sent to retrieve the Nine Tails; when Sasuke used genjutsu on Sakura, killed her in that genjutsu and caused her to pass out).
Before we continue, I want to comment on something which I believe is vitally important. Itachi confronted Naruto about Sasuke. Naruto was put under a genjutsu and swallowed a crow with Shisui's Mangekyou. This has a direct real world effect on Naruto. The consequence of this is that now Sasuke has Itachi's set of eyes. More over, Sasuke's left eye, which was Itachi's left eye, and had the most powerful Tsukuyomi in existence, is now a Rinnegan with Sharingan tomoes. Keep that in mind.
Also, consider that dojutsus can cancel/override/manipulate their own or other people's genjutsus (ex. When Sasuke broke Itachi's Tsukuyomi, when Shisui's Mangekyou overrode Kabuto's Edo Tensei, which could be construed into a genjutsu when it comes to control, when Itachi made Kabuto weave the hand signs to release the Edo Tensei contracts and when Sasuke manipulated Orochimaru when he was trying to absorb Sasuke).
It is evident that IT affects anyone directly exposed to its light and it is speculated by Sasuke that another Rinnegan can cancel a genjutsu created by the first Rinnegan (678, pg. 12).
I offer a theory based completely on conjecture:
1) Sasuke used the IT on himself, Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, and Kaguya, without their knowledge. (Obito is a different matter who shall be addressed separately)
2) Actions in IT translate to real life. This ensures that the protagonists succeed in sealing Kaguya. Notice that she never used jutsus that could have killed all of the protagonists.
3) IT is still in play even after Kaguya was sealed.
Notice that Sasuke said "During the IT, Kakashi and Sakura just happened to be right next to you. That's all. Do you understand?" (680, pg.5) Additionally, Naruto said "Sensei! You know how I work, don't you? I'll be back." (693, pg. 10)
Obito is a different matter as he died before the first IT was used. That being said, it is possible that IT didn't affect Obito and as a consequence, his actions translate from the real world into IT, and back out as an action which occurred in IT.
Conclusion: Two outcomes.
1) Sasuke put himself and the others under IT before Kaguya was sealed, or
2) It happened afterwards.
Either way, if they are under IT, Sasuke and Naruto won't die, but will experience a sort of joint Izanami effect where they will have *** and get it all out, reach a mutual understanding and come out as partners to help reshape the world.
This completes the proof.
