A lot of people have this misconception that the Uzumaki and Senju have better genetics but I'll explain as to why they're genetics are extremely useless in most situations in comparison to the Sharingan. But first, let's look at some basic examples and comparisons of Indra and Asura's sons.
Enter, Obito Uchiha
Obito is born into the Uchiha clan as an extremely lower class shinobi who struggles with the most basic techniques and abilities and has to practice more than everyone else to even come to the basic level of comprehension concerning the techniques and abilities. Despite his lack of talent, once awakening his gift, Obito became extremely talented and powerful, allowing him to kill multiple ANBU on his own as a young teen and even destroy his own clan's police force.
Enter, Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto is basically a parallel of Obito, but is a descendant of Asura. Despite Naruto's lack of talent, through sheer luck of birth and incident, he's blessed with multiple gifts. Despite his very high stamina, chakra reserves, and life force, Naruto was unable to keep up with his teammate Sasuke Uchiha who by his generations standards was a genius but by previous generations standards was not.
In their final fight before being separated, Sasuke uses the power of the curse-mark to overwhelm Naruto, but soon deactivates it once Naruto unleashes his own outside power. Mind you, Naruto was unable to defeat Sasuke even when the curse-mark was deactivated due to Sasuke's inherent talent and Sharingan. Naruto's genetics could not save him, leading him to rely on the Nine-Tails which even then resulted in failure.
The Uchiha clan, despite only having the normal Sharingan, was equal to the Senju for hundreds of years. Mind you, the Senju had to use hundreds of techniques in order to stay on the same level as the Uchiha which is not a Senju trait. The Uchiha relying on their own genetics stayed on top while the Senju had to master so many healing arts, sealing arts, teleportation techniques etc in order to keep up. Their own lifeforce and bodily abilities were not sufficient enough to keep up.
Once Hashirama's wood-style and Tobirama's flying thunder God came along, the Senju were finally at the top, but remove those two and the Uchiha with a few Mangekyo users running around would decimate the Senju.
The story of Asura and Indra is short and sweet. Indra was born with everything and Asura with nothing. Later on, Asura awakened his bodily powers and was somehow equal to Indra, but also, received power from Hagoromo as well, resulting in Asura having Truth Seeker Balls of some sort and despite that fact, Indra stalemated with his brother.
This shows that despite the constant clinging toward outside power sources on Asura's line, the Uchiha still pull through with their own gift, the Sharingan.
