Two swords are better than 1! BUT, The force of the blow is twice as powerful for the double handed grip.

At the end of the fight it was Ashura's avatar vs Indra's avatar but before that final act, Ashura came with his friends to beat Indra:

As stated, it was meant to signify how he needed comrades in order to match Indra at first (though of course not in the sense of battle prowess). It is even later on stated that soon enough with the support of them, his own power awakened and bloomed to match that of Indra's.

"To match Indra but not in the sense of battle prowess"?So in what?In football?
You may be right, but you have no proof, just like me.

I didn't mean to say in order to match Indra. I intended to say that he needed the support of others in order to reach Indra's level. I really doubt Hagoromo would approve of Ashura going out to fight his brother having others uselessly killed in the process. Either way, you said that it all happened in one fight, correct? It was stated that it was a war that continued on for multiple continuations, like Hashirama and Madara. Not to mention that this war only started after Hagoromo chose his successor, which was after Ashura already bloomed his power, thus he wouldn't have any need to bring others in the battle.

I didn't say that they would be killed, Naruto didn't die when he gave some of his powers to the shinobi alliance.

You are right, Indra vs Ashura final act happened after that Ashura was named the successor of ninshuu, but that doesn't prove that Ashura came alone to beat Indra.
Ashura is always shown with his team behind him until the final act, even after that power bloomed in him, they are still united.
His friends have lost their weapons and he opened his hands unlike before the blooming, when he was clenching fists and his friends were holding weapons.

I didn't say his friends would die giving chakra to him (if they even had chakra). I said they would die against Indra.

Why would Ashura bring people to help him that aren't even close to his level? They'd just get killed by Indra without trouble. I also don't know what you're talking about in your last paragraph. I don't ever recall something like that happening.

Ashura is here to protect them with his huge power, and they may not be that weak.

Because they are united, even a little power can be needed at some point, and something like shinobi alliance no jutsu can be usefull against Indra.

In my last paragraph I talk about Ashura's team before and after the bloom in Ashura's body.
