Since this is an old theory the time line is a bit off from the one I currently have

Sage creates Bijuu but is sustained by Gedou Mazo for unknown time

Sage chooses Ashura and Indra possibly leaves in anger

Sage writes Uchiha Tablet to guide Indra

Indra is Tempted by Zetsu

Sage extracts Mazo and creates moon

Indra returns and possibly confronts his Dying father...Kills him in unknown situation(Ashura possibly witness it)

Zetsu advises Indra how to change Tablet

Ashura confronts Indra and they fight to death...

My boy hagoromo helped seal the jubbi,kept it as a furbee,got bored,split it up sealed body in moon,and you think something as meek as his own man gravy spawn did him in????

Exactly,kuro zetsu said he influenced indra to rebel,if he had been instructed to kill so6p zetsu wouldve told him to take the eyes so he can expediate kaguyas revival.

True. This makes me wonder why zetsu didn't pilfer it from Hagoromo's corpse after he died?

If Ashura did witness it and Indra killing Hagoromo was an impulse reaction to something said to him by the dying sage...then it can easily be explain away as him going into shock at his actions and fleeing the scene.(Or Hagoromo managed to destroy his eyes before passing on...Naruto characters always have last moments to speak no matter how server the injury...Haku heart blown out still clutches Kakashi's arm, don't remember if Rin talked, Minato and Kushina with giant kyuubi claw through them, Yahiko despite having a Kunai in his heart ect...)

based on how the events in my theory are organized it is still possible...things that are hard to place...Did Hagoromo entrust the Uchiha tablet to Indra and when exactly did zetsu tempt him.
