I'm slighty confused at how Madara's name strikes fear

Apart from continuously attempting to attack Konoha, he didn't really do anything else that was really that destructive. I also don't see how he would have been feared by other villages when it was shown he didn't really do any damage to any of them. The only villages that Madara has been shown to have shaky ties with was the Stone village when he took on Muu and Onoki. Was the battle at VOTE really that infamous that the whole Shinobi world feared it?

That alone should be enough to strike fear into people, along with the fact that he effortlessly defeated a Kage and his Apprentice, and almost managed to bring down a man whose power some people considered a fairy tail.

So yes, the name of Uchiha Madara is going to strike fear into peoples heart, especially when he managed to convince them that Madara was in possession of immortality, or something along those lines.
