Canon is whatever the original author says it is. Unless Kishimoto says it is not canon, it is canon since he is writing it.

Because it has nothing to do with the actual plot of the series if the movie were just straight up about the development of naruto and sasuke then I'd be ecstatic. Hell I was thrilled when the first movie came out, I wore the head band they gave out at the theaters and all. But to me based on the timing and the plot..I'm going to be honest..and I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but it seems like fan service. Just calling it like I see it.

You're judging it after only seeing a teaser.....they're obviously not going to reveal the most thrilling aspects of the movie.

It was stated to be connected with the manga and both Naruto and Sasuke are in it. There's definitely going to be development between them.

Judging by Sasuke's design, he seems to be continuing his revolution by aimlessly wondering around the world and trying to unite it through hate which is why he looks so ragged.

Even if it were canon to me..it'd be a disappointment. I'm not understanding the problem with having a movie that directly relates the premise of the series. It's just be nice to see what became of things related to the plot instead of having yet another movie about someone being rescued...again.

Well considering the characters have grown up. I am pretty sure it has something to do with the plot of the actual story. But lets put this canon or non canon argument aside. Lets look at this thing from a fan's perspective. You have followed this series for a while and read it up to T. The manga ends in a cliff hanger. It makes you wonder "was this really the end?" Would you not see this movie anyways? Rather it's canon or non canon? Do you really wanna give away your chance because you have high standards?

if Kishi wrote the script, work on it or even just approved it, it's canon, nothing more to say.
people are being mean because they don't agree with his choices, sorry i don't understand this kind of logic, Naruto is Kishi's work not ours :|

Not because kishi wrote it means is canon, i think canon means that it follows the events of plot of the manga, for example if in the movie neji and obito never died, that means the movie is contradicting the events of the manga itself, therefore that is not canon, but let´s say in the movie neji and obito did die during the 4th ninja war like in the manga and the movie follows the same events but that may have a different focus that is canon because it´s not contradicting any events of the manga itself, which is the main plotline.

None of dragon ball movies except the last one may be canon, the reason is that the DBZ movies contradict the plot in someway for example the janemba movie, goku was dead, vegeta was dead too, gohan didnt have his awakened powers but trunks and goten knew how to make the fussion technique, fat majinbuu didnt exist, that is not canon because it contradicts the events of the manga and anime itself.

The key phrase in that paragraph is leaning towards And if someone is going to make such a claim then they could at least substantiate it with an explanation regarding how. If those connections are irrelevant to the main premise behind the series then at that point it becomes filler. Hell, that's what a filler is, or part of it anyway.

I know its a keyword which is why i worded that way specifically instead of just outright stating it was so

All the Naruto movies were not canon.Kishi wrote the script for RtN and it was non canon. This one is also non canon unless officially confirmed although I think it will be.Then again the plot is lame so it could be a filler.Typical rescue shit
