Through the thick mist of Kirigakure, Kanta traveled with a book with the words "Illusionary Arts" written on the front cover. The book is filled with blank pages except for one that shows the directions to a church on the outskirts of Kirigakure. On the back of the book it says, "Only those that have been blessed in the Arts of Illusions can only see the contents of this book". Curious to unlock the secrets of the book, Kanta have been traveling for three days from Konoha to find this unknown church in hopes that it might solve his troubles. He entered into an ominous black mist and got disoriented for a few minutes before the mist cleared up and revealed a huge mid evil like church. In the inside, there are multiple rows of chairs on each side, and in the middle lies an aisle that leads to the back of the church. Kanta saw a man standing at the podium up front with white clothing, so he got closer to see who's this man and if he's the one he must see about his problem. After reaching the front row, he could clearly see the man was reading from a book, the same book Kanta have.

Hello, my name is Kanta Mizuno of Konohagakure, and I'm here to be blessed in the teaching of the Illusionary Arts.

It's not very much, but I'll try to explain it with the little knowledge I have.

Genjutsu, also known as Illusionary Arts are techniques like ninjutsu, but they are only Illusions as the name states. Though these Illusions affect the chakra flow of the opponent's brain, making them believe that this illusion is indeed reality. It affects the five senses. So Genjutsu creates images and pain to the opponent to enhance the effect of reality. The brain is led to believe it, so it hurts the opponent. Some Genjutsu can trap you in a loop or even manipulate you. Genjutsu requires handseals to perform. One of the most dangerous Genjutsu are those that are executed using sound, as the user can stay out of sight. The Uchiha with their Sharingan are known to be good with performing Genjutsu and also recognizing it and combating it.

Chakra: Chakra is the fuel that powers up the vehicle that is ninja arts(nice analogy ehhhh?). It is the molding of the physical energy, which is present in every cell of the body, and the spiritual energy, which is gained from exercise and experience. Molding the chakra is done by two basic principles: Shape Manipulation and Nature Transformation. Shape manipulation pertains to the ability to give your chakra a desired form while Nature transformation pertains to the ability to give your chakra a desired set of characteristics/ properties. Sometimes, to better mold chakra, ninja use Hand seals. Hand seals are simply hand gestures that allow the ninja to more easily concentrate and mold the chakra into the desired technique.

Chakra Control: The ability to use your chakra proficiently.

Genjutsu: Genjutsu, also known as Illusionary Arts are techniques like ninjutsu, but they are only Illusions as the name states.

Types: There are two types of Genjutsus: Passive genjutsu and Active genjutsu. Passive genjutsu deals with the five senses (hearing, seeing, touching, tasting, and smelling), and Active genjutsu have three subtypes: Doujutsu enabled Genjutsu, Sound Genjutsu and Normal Genjutsu.

Advantages and Disadvantages: The advantages of genjutsu is that you're able to manipulate your opponent senses and have them believe in something that is not real. There are no disadvantages when using genjutsu in battle.

Strengths and Weaknesses: The strength of genjutsu is that it happens right away without you knowing it happened. You take the time it takes for the target to break out of the genjutsu to attack or flee. The weakness of genjutsu is that you can break out of it by using chakra surges such as Kai release or deal pain to oneself (which can be a advantage to the user of the genjutsu).

Users: Anybody who posses great chakra control and intelligence can use genjutsu effectively. Some examples are the Uchihas, Kurama clan, and sound ninjas.

You lure a target into an illusion by simply disturbing their chakra flow using your own chakra. By creating an entropy in their chakra and using the new pattern in the chakra flow to send signal into their brain and then you can write set of instructions to their sense of smell, touch, sight, taste or hearing. You can control one of this or more.

You are actually vague on the passive genjutsu part.
Remember Sakura before they are allowed for the chunnin test? Iruka used a genjutsu on her and she dispelled the genjutsu without using any known genjutsu breaking process.
You know why?
Its a visual illusions that only trap our senses and not chakra fueled.
The same genjutsu had been used on Sakura by kakashi so this makes the genjutsu known to sakura so through mere recognition and acknowledgement that its a genjutsu, the genjutsu vanishes, thus such illusions can be easily overcome through experience and logic.
This may however not apply in NB RP.
Active genjutsu are the chakra fueled one which we mainly use here.

Advantage is that depending on the illusion, you are able to to put your opponent in a difficult situation and can mask your own attack with the genjutsu. A reason why people call genjutsu a cheat but thats not all to it. Genjutsu is far more vast than that. I use genjutsu mostly when I want to torture or toy with my opponent and I may not go for the kill. Just to make them suffer ^^

Who says Genjutsu has no con? What of range. If you are fighting a long range user, then you are likely not able to use genjutsu because its very difficult to disturb chakra from that distance.
Also there is for you to percieve the presence of your opponent either by sight or sensory link.

Okay now tell me

-How you detect a genjutsu

How you detect a genjutsu
When caught in a genjutsu, you have a small window of time to realize you're in one and then break out. One of the most used methods to detect a genjutsu is by making reasonable guesses in how you know you're in a jutsu. For a example, what if I placed you in a genjutsu that makes you see snakes coming out from all directions towards you. You can detect the genjutsu by saying that you didn't see me weave one single hand seal, which is a requirement for all summoning jutsus. And then proceed to break out of it and continue the battle. Another way of detecting genjutsus is if you can see or sense a foreign chakra entering into chakra pathways. This can be achieved by being a sensory or doujutsu user. However, if the genjutsu is A rank or higher and manipulates the target's eyesight, they have to rely on the first method to help break them out. Sensory users still have to use the first method to know they are in a genjutsu, and then they can use the chakra sensing technique to confirm it. If they already had the chakra sensing technique up, they don't need to detect anything because they should sense the foreign chakra entering their chakra flow.

Different ways of breaking out of genjutsu
When caught in a genjutsu, there are only a few ways you can get out. The first is through pain. Applying pain to oneself can ultimately free you from Genjutsu. The higher the rank of the Genjutsu, the more pain you have to inflict on yourself to free yourself. If you have a high tolerance to pain or are against self harm, there are other ways to free yourself from Genjutsu. A major one is disturbing your chakra flow by causing a surge of chakra to flow through your body which disturbs the 'foreign' chakra from the Genjutsu, which then release you from the illusion. The main technique that people use to do this is 'Kai'. Kai is able to release you from Genjutsu in the manner above, however in order to do so, the same amount chakra spent to cast the genjutsu needs to be spent to break the genjutsu. Foreign chakra can also break you free. For instance some certain someone over there was trapped in your Genjutsu I could go and channel my own chakra into him, disrupting his chakra flow, and freeing him. However.. you need to know how to perform the chakra transfer technique.. which I don't know.

You are a smart one, ain't you? I see you lifted this though its okay so far you understand it quite right.
As for the chakra transfer, yea, you won't be able to use it except you have great chakra control like the hyugas, medics and fuinjutsu masters.

Tell me about Genjutsu Layering...

What are you talking about? I don't even lift. >_>

From what I know (read), genjutsu layering is when you cast the initial genjutsu onto the target and then cast another one on top of it which will result in them mixing together to manipulate more than one of the the target's senses. However, there are rules when it comes to using this tactic. The first rule is that the second genjutsu can't be ranked higher than the initial one, or it will cancel out the initial genjutsu. Two, you can only stack up to two genjutsus. Three, the highest ranked genjutsu used in the combination is the rank of the overall layered genjutsu. And the last one is if both genjutsus are of the same rank, the overall illusion is canceled.

Now to break out of a layred genjutsu, all you need to do is use a releasing method that is sufficient enough to break out of the higher ranked genjutsu.

Okay I'll post a genjutsu then you are required to

-Create a scenerio where you use this in combination with other two moves in a battle. Use NPCs and describe what you do in details
-Create another scenerio where you use it in a differrent way than the one above.
-Advanatages and Disadvantages
-How will you defend from this?(detection and breaking out)
-Questions
-Pictures

( Magen: Kokoni Arazu no Jutsu ) -
Demonic Illusion: False Surroundings
Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10 (+5 if you use it double)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.
You cast an illusion disturbing your opponent's chakra balance and tame your opponent's sense of sight by making him see the terrain in a different way.

Scenarios:

  • I will first summon a shadow clone beforehand, and then place the genjutsu on my target. In the genjutsu, my opponent will see a swamp underneath him that is quickly pulling him down just like the canon earth technique but faster. Simultaneously with me placing the genjutsu on my target, my clone would use the move "Water Release: Stormy Blockade" and summon a huge amount of water above my opponent. I chose this move because it will prevent the opponent from using the chidori nagashi move to break out of the genjutsu, which is a very popular move to use when it comes to breaking out of genjutsus. I also chose to use a clone because I didn't want to give my opponent time to counter.

  • In this next scenario, I will use the double illusion feature of this move. First, I will create a huge barricade of earth around him. The barricade is 15 meters high and surrounds him in about an 8 meter radius. After he breaks through that one, a huge wave of water will come crashing at him from all directions, as if the barricade from before was holding it back. In reality, I will use the sticky earth drop to bind my opponent.

Advantage:

  • You can set a double illusion.
  • Requires no hand seals.
  • It manipulates the target's vision.

Disadvantages:
  • It's very easy to detect as terrain doesn't instantly change in a second without the target weaving a single hand seal.
  • You can only change the terrain.

How will you defend from this?

  • If I notice that my opponent didn't weave one hand seal or make a single movement, I would more likely come to the conclusion that it's a genjutsu because terrain altering moves takes way to much chakra, focus, and time to be able to do it instantly without performing one hand seal. I would either breakout by using a kunai to chip one of my fingers or use kai release.

Questions:

  • If I use the double illusion feature of this move, can my opponent breakout of both illusions with one move, or do she have to breakout of each illusion one at a time?

Note that the double illusion version is the B-ranked one and thus you may not use this as such to be on a safe side. Having said that, you can use a whole body surge of higher rank to break from both illusions at once.

( Genjutsu: Kahen Tonsou ) - Illusion
Technique: Flower Petal Escape
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of
cherry blossom petals. These petals
surround the opponent, blocking his vision.
This allows the user to mask his movement
effectively.
you will make 5 handseals then inject your chakra into your opponent where he sees you dissolve into a swarm of petals that swirls around your opponent then you can use that moment of distraction to mask your movement.

Scenarios:

  • This move would best be use in a field with petals scattered around, so my opponent can't use the excuse of saying, "There were no petals nearby, so it must be a genjutsu". After that, I will use Moving Earth Core to lower the ground beneath the target, and follow up by summoning a huge amount water on top of him with the move Stormy Blockade.

  • In the second scenario, I will use the same scenery as before but the combination instead would be Sticky earth drop and Hellfire Technique. While the target is busy breaking out of the genjutsu, I will restrict his movements with a surplus of sticky mud until it covers his whole body. Then follow it up with the Hellfire technique and cause a huge maelstrom of fire to hardened the mud.

Advantage:

  • It manipulates the target's vision.
  • It's a little bit more believable than the last one which makes it harder to detect.
  • N/A

Disadvantage:

  • Easy jutsu to breakout of.
  • Requires 5 hand seals to perform.
  • Only affects the vision.

How will you defend from this?

  • I would first send an attack to get rid of the petals. Since they are an illusion, the petals should still be there after the attack. Then I will come to a conclusion that these petals are not real, and are actually an illusion.

okay

( Genjutsu: Kasumi ) - Illusion Technique: Servant
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: The user does one handseal and throws a paper bomb at the enemy. The
enemy, trapped in a genjutsu will see a clone
of the user advancing upon him. As the paper
bomb reaches the enemy, it explodes
This also ensnares your opponent's perception of sight, you put him in an illusion where instead of seeing you send a bomb tag towards him, he only sees your clone advancing.

Scenarios:

  • After placing the opponent in the genjutsu, I'll throw the paper bomb along with a smoke bomb at him. By doing this my opponent, after he breaks out of the genjutsu, will see nothing but the smoke and will be oblivious to the paper bomb that hides within it.

  • For this one, I will use the same scenario as before, but with one change. I will replace the smoke bomb with the jutsu Fire Release: Mist Blaze Dance Technique. Using this move with the smoke bomb will make for a dangerous combo by engulfing my opponent in a series of flames.

Advantages:

  • The genjutsu manipulates the target's vision.
  • You toss a paper bomb after placing the genjutsu on the target. Giving him less time to break out and counter properly.
  • It's only one hand seal.

Disadvantages:

  • Can only work in short range.
  • Very easy to breakout of.
  • N/A

How will you defend from this?

  • The first thing I would do if I see a clone coming out of my opponent is to attack. I would preferably use a Wind jutsu. The reason behind that move is to redirect the paper bomb back to my opponent, and then realize that I'm in a genjutsu because my attack wouldn't have any effect on the clone. I'll then move on to breaking out of the genjutsu and return to reality.

Picture:

I know this is a different jutsu, but it was the only thing that popped up when I google search the genjutsu. Plus they're similar.

Okay analysis..

( Kasumi Jūsha no Jutsu ) - Mist Servant
Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This illusion creates numerous illusionary clones of the user that appear to
emerge from the ground, trees, rocks, etc.
If these clones are attacked, they appear to
multiply. The user can co-ordinate his attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.
The picture you posted above is for this very one. You insert your chakra into your opponent and disrupt their making them see many clones of you which would keep multiplying when hit. Remember Naruto's ordeal in the forest of death? This is the same.

Scenario:

  • Inside the genjutsu, I'll make a group of clones run towards my opponent. In reality, I'll send a blast a fire at his feet which will then form into a pillar that sends my opponent to the sky (Fire Release: Flame Pillar Technique). In the genjutsu it will show the clones kicking him upwards to the sky. For the last jutsu, I will use Tearing Earth Turning Palm to bury my opponent alive after he falls back down to earth.

  • For the second scenario, I'll gather up my Katon chakra and send a spiraling tornado towards my opponent (Fire Release: Flame Whirlwind). Before it reaches to my opponent, I'll amplify it's speed and power with the move Pressure Damage to deal bone crushing damage to my opponent's chest. In the genjutsu, a group of clones will gang up on him and hit him in his chest.

Advantages:

  • It manipulates my opponent's vision.
  • I can co-ordinate my attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.
  • N/A
Disadvantages:

  • Easy to break out of
  • Can't reach long range
  • N/A

How will you defend from this?

  • After seeing the clones appear from the trees, rocks, and etc, I'll begin to notice that my opponent didn't wove one hand seal to make these clones, which is required. Then to confirm my speculation, I'll toss a kunai at one of them to see if it will disperse. After seeing the clone multiply after being attacked, I'll come to the conclusion that it's a genjutsu and pull out another kunai to tip my finger.

Well Good.

( Magen: Narakumi ) - Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user performs two handseals causing it to appear as if a swirl of leaves surrounds the opponent. The swirl eventually falls away, and after a few seconds, the opponent sees the image of whatever they fear the most, shocking them and potentially causing them to faint.
Kakashi used this on Sakura. You will perform 2 handseals and insert your chakra into your opponent luring them into an illusion where they see leaves cover their view apparently blinding them for a moment then the leaves clear off only for them to see another vision you fashion for them, however this time, a grievious one which can be so torturing to them that they'll loose conciousness. What they see to cause mental torture to them is up to you and might fail if you can find a better one.
