Hiruzen Sarutobi would not use Reaper Death Seal on Orochimaru.
I believe he could have beat Orichimaru had he faught him longer, we would see thst edo tensei was not perfected and The third would be alive from that point onwards. Not only would this affect the chunin exams, but it would also prevent Sasuke from being taken by Orochimaru, kept team 7 together long, furthered their connection. But I also think that it would have made the story in general longer.
