Then why:
-did his tactical plan nearly result in the loss of his entire platoon during the Sasuke retrieval arc?
-did he not understand that there was something fishy about Hidan drawing up a circle of his opponent's blood until Asuma kicked the can?
-was his solution to tanking a Juubi tailed beast bomb so poorly thought out? Quick everybody! Learn a D-rank earth jutsu, that'll stop him!
-was his grades similar to Naruto in the academy? (dead last)
-was Sakura regarded as "the village's shrewdest child" by Kakashi
-was his theory on the identity of Pain not only shot down by Sakura but in addition to this, she worked out what he couldn't!
Let's face it, Sakura was the most intelligent of her generation. She aced med school in 3 years and became the best in the business to boot. Sakura's feats of creating an antidote to Sasori's poisons instantly, being able to work out Sasori's patterns instantly
and working out the secret of Pain (before Shikamaru) trump anything Nara boy has done.
These eyes of mine see through the hype.
