I'd say...err...probably not. The whole team was trained by The Legendary Sannin: Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru. Don't get me wrong, Kakashi would have made Sasuke stronger, but not strong as he is today. Not by a long shot.

Who knows if he still had it, and trained more. Who's to say he wouldn't master a step even beyond that. Just a though.

Itachi did let him win; however, he wasn't necessarily pulling any punches.

Not entirely true J-man also trained naruto to be able to protect himself from the akatsuki, to prevent from being captured >.< not totally disagreeing but i see your point
