He lost due to lack of his full arsenal, same reason why he lost to kakashi.

So the dumbest character in naruto can cause the 4th shinobi world war due to the way he played his cards? The only reason why obito's plan hasnt succeeded is because the protagonist keeps winning (which is what's supposed to happen). Obito is one of the smartest ninjas in the series, & he has as a vast knowledge on everything, just as madara does (which is why we all thought he was madara for the longest time, minato even suspected madara for the damage he caused).

He lied about being Madara because if he did not he would have been defeated a long time ago...Just saying you are madara and showing above average sharingan usage is enough to ward off harmfull threats....Also it is very easy to star a war, Finnishing it is another story

The only reason why Kakashi was able to defeat Obito was because the fight took place in the other dimension, where Obito was at his most vulnerable and Kamui-less. If this fight took place in the real world, then Obito could just Kamui to evade Kakashi's attacks.
