Hiashi arguably showed more feats in terms of true power of what an Adult Hyuuga could do, and he was surprised by Neji's talent back in Part 1.
If we just assume that Neji would be stronger than Hiashi, then just maybe the Clan wouldn't be a joke. The Clan falls towards Hanabi whom has literally no feats in the Manga bar being more talented than Hinata. Which is literally nothing.
If Neji had that boost in power, he would be powerful for sure.
I agree, Kishi nerfed them so hard it's criminal. How can the descendants of Kaguya be weaker than Uchiha/Senju when her children were equal ?
As Otsutsuki descendants their chakra should normally be just as special as Uchiha and Senju so logically their ninjutsu would be just as OP, but somehow Kishi neglected to give them element feats even though Hamura had Six Path Senjutsu like Hagoromo.
All Neji needed was a small chakra boost like Sage Mode, or at least the ability to enhance his chakra flow like the manga said Hyuga were capable of.
Kaguya showed what Byakugan powers can do but I don't think it did the Hyuga justice because she wasn't a fighting prodigy like Neji, I really hope Boruto displays Hyuga feats so people can stop assuming Hinata's clan is fodder.
