If Itachi would have sided with the Uchiha clan, would the ninjas of the the Hidden Leaf, could they have truly stop the Uchiha Clan? [I mean, who could stop Itachi from within the Hidden Leaf?]

Oh yeah, big time. Itachi's great and all, but he's only one ninja--a ninja with low stamina might I add. You have one clan versus ANBU, ROOT, and hundreds of Chuunin and Jonin ninja. They would be swarmed and defeated in a matter of hours.

hiruzen/jirayai/hiashi would of all been difficult for him at the time if he would of went with the coup he also would of had to face shuishui wouldn't he have? he might not of had his MS so kakashi would of put up a good fight as well

They always said the Leaf would be attacked by other nations during the civil war why wouldn't the Uchiha just ally with other countries and attack that way the smarter not harder method.

It doesn't even need to be a frontal assault either. ANBU and ROOT are spies who specialize in knowing what goes on in the village and "diffuses" the situation. Then you have the Hokage and Hokage Candidate Danzo heading the pack (should Danzo decide to actually get off his laurels and fight). There's no way the Uchiha clan could inflict a chunk of casualties to the other side. A significant portion, yes, but not even a majority or a "lot".

They might but it would have been a pointless victory since the village would never accept a violent chnage in power,so while the Uchiha are busy dealing with resentful citizens the rival villages would see the chaos as a opportunity.

an anbu agent wouldn't be able to escape, the sharingan is very keen if someone is spying or monitoring ones movement.
