How to put this.

If Naruto was a mmorpg Itachi would have been maxed out character with raid gear, but he quit the game after the first xpac at like level 65, and later came back for the re-enlistment bonus (edo endless chakra) and quick level up, bringing him up to speed but no time for raid gear.

He helped out with a few boss fights he was familiar with, but then he quit the game again. Meanwhile up till now its been 3 or 4 more Xpacs and people are rocking level 100 toons and even the vendor trash gear makes the old epics and mythical gear look like clown shoes. Not only that but there had been a huge class rebalance so the crappy monk and tank class got boosted up to speed while the OP'ed glance class got nerfed.

For all Itachi's coolness there came a point where he was just left behind. The power scaling went through the roof. No amount of mangafax is going to change that.

I'm going to be honest, if Itachi gets Gai into a genjutsu, it's over. 8 gates or not. That will be tricky, but regardless of whether Gai can avoid eye contact or not, finger genjutsu has the same effect.

When excluding Hagoromo and his family, Itachi is the 9th strongest shinobi in NV. However, when you include Kaguya and family, he's top 15. Which is great for a shinobi that has been dead for half of part two.

Gai has never been top ten. That's like saying Hiruzen with RDS, Deidara with C4, and Konan with prep time are top ten. Suicide isn't a win. Lol And a tie has no merit if you're dead. xD

Either way, Gai can't even make it to the 8th gate against any top ten opponent, Itachi included. The only reason he fought Madara was because Madara let him go that far and wished to "dance".

This is the perfect response, and there's no reason to continue after it.

It's a manga fact that the only opponents who have broken out of Itachi's genjutsu are sharingan users and those whom he has told, "you're in a genjtsu" whether with his actual words or the obviousness of his actions.

Itachi can make a genjutsu that mimics the exact landscape. No character in the history of the manga tries to dispel a genjutsu every second of a fight just in case. They move to dispel once they realize they're in one, which is never the case unless Itachi has willed it to be so.

Well, this was a cute joke. Almost made me laugh. Almost.

-Gai gets hit by Amaterasu if he looks only at Itachi's feet. Or any other physical attack for that matter.

-Kakashi attempted to fight Itachi like that in part two. He told Sakura and Naruto the same. It didn't work. Mainly because, when Itachi fights he barely even moves. It's useless.

-Itachi's MS genjutsus can't be dispelled with seals. Tsukiyomi is definitely not going to be, Gai can't even react to that.

-Base Gai makes a complete mockery of Itachi's genjutsu? Base Gai has a lower score than Base Itachi (who has his illness and no sharingan factored in) according to the databook.

Conclusion: Gai doesn't make it to the 8th gate. Itachi doesn't let him even make it to the 7th before taking him out. I'm sorry, but Gai loses. There's literally no other way around it.

This is true. But Itachis spot is always debatable. Also Deidaras Suicide isnt the C4 its C5. 4 is the micro bombs. He did lose due to plot though I think. Sasuke winning was really situational, if he fought Naruto it be a different story.
