alright, now that whole yumi business is settled, i can without hesitation claim that kishi touches upon the 'modern' crisis of man in his shonen!
and yes i will give u my reasons but not now. you know the real fun is when u urself read a thing and understand and feel and realize what is really going on beneath the underneath. and i don't want to take away that pleasure from you (not right now at least).
i'll just give u some thought directions and hints,i am really curious to know what u ppl make out of them (yeah seems like this is gonna a be thread i will actually keep visiting, i don't usually do that with my own threads):
1. lets not confuse gaara's problem with this.....he didn't suffer from identity crisis. he had one definite identity,personality....his problem was with how to find his place with that type of personality. in short it was crisis of reason for existance.
2.kabuto....he is really one person who suffered/and may be still suffers from identity crisis. and he finds that thing similar with naruto, even though naruto failed to understand it at that time.
3.remember the panel in 495 when naruto says that he doubts the villagers still. what do you think he was actually doubting about in them? had he any reason to doubt that the villagers were seeing him as a hero? or was the doubt about who were they seeing as hero?(add to this the dialogue from 495 where naruto basically says that he has stopped doubting whether he is the type of man villagers think of as)
4. and lastly, think about naruto's childhood, how he used to play the fool to get into the mix. was it not a mask that he wore? and he had continued in that way, acting like something while his real motive being totally different. for example,he is regarded as a hero for defeating pain....now did he do that for konoha actually? (and perhaps that is the reason why couldn't honestly sign those autographs)
so this persona which naruto adopted, reared in himself, which i just called a 'mask',is it really a mask only? or is it as much true as the personality he kept suppressed in him with loads of bitter feelings?
think, think ppl, time to put on ur thinking caps!
