First of all let me introduce myself guys, Im Raz and glad to be part of the the community. This thread is about my personal opinion, so feel free to share your opinions as well. Basically I am going to discuss about the final clash between Naruto & Sasuke.
As the previous generation Hashirama & Madara’s friendship is similar to that of Naruto & Sasuke. Kishi has also repeated certain things about their bonds:
So why will it not repeat again the same way ?
About the prophecy –:
The elder toad said to naruto:
In my opinion this battle will conclude the hatred and unite the narutoverse as a whole, so it is logical it will be Sasuke as his power heavily relies on his eyes (Especially his rinnegan). He is also the second person to attain Rinnegan with Tomoes following Kaguya. Madaras power relies more on the Juubi/God Tree after becoming the host.
Now let me explain:
First they became friends trying to understand each other. Later their friendship ended with the Uchiha cutting ties with the other.
Then they both start working towards a common goal in kind of co-operation. Madara agrees to work with Hashirama and creates the leaf village, just as Sasuke co-operating with Naruto to defeat their common enemy ‘Madara Uchiha’.
Then despite having a co-operation with and agreeing in Hashirama’s idelas, Madara starts to lose the reliability on the safety of the Uchiha Clan when the leadership changes after Hashirama.
Of course, Sasuke have agreed to team up with Naruto to help ‘The Alliance’ against Madara. It does not mean he accepts Naruto’s ideals. The conversation between Naruto & Hagoromo stated that he wants to protect his friends. In the case of Sasuke it’s still a mystery what was his answer to Hagoromo.
A question may arise, why Hagoromo would share a part of his powers with Sasuke if his ideals are contradicting with Naruto’s. It’s simple as it has been stated by Hagoromo himself,
Sasuke’s answer can be most likely the restoration of his clan/ending the suffering in the world. Which is still not clear but Hagoromo must have seen a possibility of ending the ‘curse of hatred’, in Sasuke’s ideals as well.
Now the final fight between Naruto & Sasuke must have a valid reason, a few possibilities I see are:
To become Hokage – Naruto’s dream is to become Hokage and accepted by the villagers, Sasuke wants to become Hokage to restore his clan. Although it’s a possibility there is a high chance Naruto would not be serious or rather foregoing the title to save his friend.
The tailed beasts – Naruto has already befriended the beasts and it also goes along his ideals of “protecting his friends”. As stated by Hagoromo Ninshuu & Tailed beasts are to increase the understanding between people. When naruto was in BM with the help of Kyuubi Chakra he was able to communicate with others, they were able to sense his deep feelings as well.
As also stated by Nagato Uzumaki:
Which is true in a deep sense, I also believe that the Kyuubi chakra Naruto handed over to everyone will play a major role than chakra boost helping them to share their deep feelings and thoughts with each other letting them to understand each other.
Despite that fact Sasuke may not get along with the idea, considering chakra & Ninshuu is also one of the main reasons for the chaos in Narutoverse he may try to get rid of the beasts to achieve equality. In this scenario both of their ideals are in contradiction, which will be the source for their final battle & also ending ‘The Curse of Hatred’.
