Ok so Naruto lived alone in a place most likely owned by the 3rd hokage for his entire childhood. What I'm curious about now is: Who the hell took care of him as a baby? and why wasnt this person around to help naruto deal? obviously he couldnt feed himself as a baby and stuff.... it just seems like a giant mistake to me.

There's probably some sort of orphanage set-up for kids who lost their parents in war or missions, like Iruka. It probably was low-funded and not pleasant, however. I think that makes the most sense.

Jiraiya and Tsunade have been out of the village every since Orochimaru left, or around that time anyway. And Orochimaru left before Naruto was born.

yeah your right........ it was never mentioned in the plot. The closes one is Jaraiya because he is so close to the family.

I would say that there had to be some kind of orphanage.... and once he left he was constantly "visited" by an ANBU for money (more than likely left on his doorstep or laying around his apt) sent by the third so that he could keep an eye on the young Naruto and keep his promise to the 4th

I guess it was the third hokage, but of course he didnt have time to look after naruto 24/7 as he was the hokage. I just see the konoha elders babysitters like, so probably them, or a ninja daycare..

Yeah, good choices.. Thats probably why he loves ramen so much, as probably he got used to eating that, lol, plus the ramen store man and naruto seems ro be close, and lets not forget iruka.
I dont think the third hokage had time to babysit, I think he did keep an eye on him constantly, but probably iruka, the old man at the ramen, the konoha elders, or the villagers probably had turns,lol, one day a clan took care of him, another day another, etc.. Its complicated, but good question.
