We never saw how that happened. Can a bijuu notice a genjutsu out of battle ? Did he use a special sharingan like Shisui ? Can we count Itachi possessing one of Shisui eyes ? too much question to be 100% sure

Edit : By the way im not underestimating Tobi I know it could only last a few seconds but if someone can beat im in inteligence battle its surely Itachi.

No. He did attack when Itachi was alive; Naruto's birth. Tobi was collecting the Bijuu, he had no reason to attack Konoha after that.

you mean when itachi was a little kid. the kyuubi was in the leaf village and was akatsukis target. itachi was the only thing saving naruto from the akatsuki in part 1.

we dont even know if Tobi is a real Uchiha and it was stated that Itachi tsukiomi cannot be broken unless ur is sibling. And Izanami would work even on Tobi , genjutsu master or not.

You're delusional if think Itachi can defeat him. Tobi has stronger genjutsu than Itachi and genjutsu doesn't work on him. Amaterasu doesn't work either. For one, Tobi is intangible and Tobi has shown to be able to escape it by some unknown means. But whatever. Tobi could just theoretically warp Itachi to another dimension and just starve him to death. Itachi doesn't have a s/t tech so there is no way to escape it.

tskyomi can be broken by the laws of genutsu and since tobi has a sharingan he can fight back it all depends on the user.

samething with sasuke people said well sasuke had tskuyomi ann with that only relatives could break his, well it didn't happen that way since bee had the abilty which was one of the laws to break genjutsu which was to be a perfect jinchuriki.

basically if tobi can use his sharingan to reverse the genjutsu than he would have a chance of breaking it because those are the laws of genjutsu,itachi was most likely lying to sasuke like he was doing before he died.
