Live-action comic book movies and TV shows are all the buzz these days. Yes, there has been live-action movies and TV shows for a while now, but Batman Begins and especially Iron Man were really the movies to set all of this craziness off.

Movies like Blade, Daredevil, Elektra, the Hulk movies, and Superman Returns were all poorly received. The Spider-Man and X-Men movies were well-liked, just not game-changing. The TV show, Smallville, has many fans, but was very flawed and wasn't responsible for all of the people who now are into comics.

With all that being said, I predict that manga/anime will follow and a lot of new fans of the genre will be born. No longer will liking manga/anime be considered geeky or dorky. Just like how it's "cool" to like superheroes and comics now, thanks to the live-action adaptations.

Yeah, there's the POS movie Dragonball Evolution. There's also Attack on Titan and the Rurouni Kenshin movies, but there's gonna be a manga/anime movie the equivalent of Batman Begins or Iron Man that really gets things going.

Japan, of course, will dominate this space. South Korea, China, and the United States will try to get a slice of the pie.

Do you agree?

I agree with that
but as i live in india people don't praise anime and hardly anyone heard the word `manga'
so india definitely doesn't get the slice of pie but if that happens i personally enjoy it

Well, be a blessing to everyone there by telling them about manga lol
And yeah, I'd love to see legit, big-budget live-action adaptations of Naruto, One Piece, DBZ, etc. The studios would just need the money, the right cast, good CGI and practical effects

Didn't say that it wasn't :| Just said that it didn't start what Batman Begins and Iron Man did with live-action adaptations of comics. Like creating cinematic universes and whatnot

"everything" is a stretch and an exaggeration. YouTube isn't where the HUGE bucks are made, as in multi-million and a billion+. Theatrical release is the way to go. And with all the marketing and advertising, it obviously reaches a wider audience. The ticket sales, too, of course.
It takes juggernaut production studios to make the big movies and TV shows.
But yeah, independent YouTube studios make some badass material. But money makes the world goes round.

I disagree with Japan dominating the space. North America is the biggest movie market, so if there's any big money coming from these films, it'll be from American adaptations. I guess we'll see how far off that is when Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson comes out next year.

And I wouldn't say the MCU and Nolan's Batman started this movement. The first two X-Men films were good, but really it was the first Spiderman that sparked all the interest. Begins and Iron Man weren't nearly as big as that film was when it came out.
