These things include specs, features, better quality for some phones and cameras, the ability to completely customize your android OS, wide manufacturers, and the list goes on.

It's also quite illogical to state this too, plans can get you any iPhone at $199 for some carriers, hell, for a monthly payment of around $35 dollars, AT&T's next installment allows you to get the phone with a minimal tax pay on it when you walk in the door.
