You mentioned Counter Strike.
The main menu track on 1.6/source is by a band called Death. The song is called To Forgive Is To Suffer which is off the album The Sound of Perserverance. The best songs on their, imo, are Scavenger of Human Sorrow, Spirit Crusher and Voice of the Soul.
But Death's best albums are Leprosy and Symbolic, imo.
