You do wnloaded manga and your antivirus couldn't detect the threat?
No I just viewed the manga online (it was the older chapters of Naruto) and then all of a sudden my laptop went crazy. It almost happend to my desktop as well ( viewing older chapters on this website) I am on my laptop now just got it back today and the guy says as long as I keep everything updated it shouldnt happen again. However I am still nervous to view the magna on my laptop/desktop and may just stick to viewing it on my ipod. :|

So my laptop got a virus the other day. Basically what happend was I was looking at older Naruto manga chapters on NB and all of a sudden WAM! I had that stupid "Win 7" virus all up in my face. I did everything I knew how before taking it to the computer business 15 minutes from my home. For those of you who are wondering yes I went into safe mode and did all kinds of tests and tried getting my antivirus to kick in but the virus infected most of my documents, files, etc.

The computer guy has to wipe my computer clean- which sucks because I'll end up losing my Microsoft Office programs. Anyways, everyone be careful I'm not saying its NB's fault but just be carful otherwise for 100 bucks you'll be getting your computer wiped. :|
Next Time when That happen try this, take the hard drive from your notebook and then connect it to other pc but don't open the drive just scan it with the anti virus, sometimes it's help.

hope u did not waste 100 bucks for this.
As I already stated I am not a computer master or anything like that- I know some things about computers but I didnt know enough to get rid of the virus on my own. Not to mention some of the things I was told to do by that time it was too late. I tried and yea it sucks that I had to waste 95 dollars on it but it is what it is. U_U

Can't tell you how many times I've been hit with a virus, it's so annoying.

Here's what you should do rather frequently, backup all your files and documents on your recovery disks. You may not be a computer wiz but it shouldn't be too hard to do this. Do what I do now, back up all your files a few times a month (if you go Internet crazy going on everyday) just to be safe. Have daily virus scans with your protection software or at least have it done twice a week.

Luckily, my Cisco class is literally going over network protection right now and since this isn't new to me (I've been to tech support so many times you'd think I know how to protect my computer....I do :D to some extentxd) I may know how the virus got on your computer because what happened to you sounds similar to what happened to me. I was on my school's website with my laptop and this random virus scan came up saying I had been infected. It was a false scan and as soon as it finished it's so called scan I couldn't open anything on my desktop or computer. The only thing it would allow me to pull up was the false add to buy their fake security software.

How did the virus come up, because normally you can pull up task manager to end the program before it gets too far, and if not, manually shutting down your computer should get rid of it and allow you to restart fast enough to load up your anti-virus...for that matter what anti-virus software do you have because only a few are actually good quality.

Whatever, just back up your files regurally onto your recovery disks (hopefully you have them) and if nothing else works, you should be able to back up your computer to a point where it was working, and the virus will be gone.
