It was not stated that it's possible to cast genjutsu from a distance without eye/physical contact, they just thought that Itachi cast a genjutsu on people and sent them back to their camps and ordered them to kill their comrades but nowhere said that he could manipulate people just by will....otherwise it would be more powerful than KA and then why didn't he manipulate more important characters?

Look...it makes a lot of sense. I did not expect Zetsu to betray Obito like that, I really thought they had something good together while living in that cave for years. Did not suspect him to be gathering information on Rin and Kakashi all this time. But how would Zetsu take Madara who is hooked up to Senju life support? If by chance Zetsu just took his Sharingan, how would he use it?

He needs Obito to actually want the moon eye plan because when madara actually dies. For example if Madara just controlled Obito then when he died Obito wouldnt carry out the plan, so madara needs him to want it for himself for when madara isnt around

That would explain why he has been asleep for so long. But there is a problem with that too........it is biologically impossible!

I think that Madara's actually controlling the mizukage as his body lays there out of consciousness, because his mind is busy manipulating the mizukage and he could be using of the zetsu bodies... So therefore madara is the one who ordered the mist ninja to attack and surround Kakashi and Rin!! Madara knows how much Obito loves Rin so he orders the mist ninja to kill Rin, and even better Zetsu jumps in outta no where and is gonna get Obito to witness it first hand!

Then after Obito witnesses Rin's death, his only option is the moon eyes plan ... because he needs to be with Rin

and go figure that zetsu hinted at it saying "even revive the dead"

So overall Madara and Zetsu are playing Obito... Madara is behind the Mist Ninja attacking Rin, and Zetsu fools Obito into witnessing it first hand to later awaken his ms! After Rin's death, Obito will be all for the moon eye plan to get a chance to see her again. Madara is the master manipulator!
