There are no underlining themes in Naruto. The messages aren't subtle, or complex. What you're doing is reading in to something so much, that you get a completely different message then the author intended, if there were one to being with. It's called self-interpretation. Stop thinking that you understand the tortured mind of a genius. Naruto carries a universal and easy to understand message. And yes the target demographic for Naruto is younger kids.
