why people choose useless characters as their favorite. i mean no offense to any fanbase but how much screen time and relevance did some of these characters actually have?

hinata
neji
sakura
ino
rock lee
asuma
hiruzen

and don't give me that "I can relate to the character on a personal level" cr@p, theres no way that on a real life daily bases you can relate to any of these characters unless you are a complete weirdo.

I like Madara because he actually got sh!t done

i like naruto, sasuke, Obito and kakashi because they actually progressed as characters.

I like minato and itachi because they put the story in motion.

so why like all these other useless fodders?

I was going to explain, but then I saw this and realized if your mind is this closed, then your brain probably doesn't get enough oxygen at any one time to understand.

Care to explain instead of just blatantly insulting me?

I'm going to explain this as simply as I can. A character, has a backstory while not prominent or focused on in the manga people grow to like it. They enjoyed what that character's story was, as short as it was or ignored they liked it. Got it? Lol

I like Lee and Neji. People are fans of characters they can connect with in some way. Whether that be through being able to relate to them, sympathy, or just plain interest.

Sure then. First thing I'd like to address is the relatability thing. Being able to relate to a character is not having the exact same events happen to you. Being able to relate to fictional characters are completely normal because life imitates fiction and fiction imitates life. All you need is to be able to look at a character and say "I understand what that's like." Or, as some people like to call it, basic human empathy. It's kind of new to the world, hasn't caught on yet.

A person's favorite character might be Rock Lee because they can relate to and understand what it's like to fail at something over and over again and the frustration it brings. Rock Lee might be their favorite character because they understand what it's like to have to work extremely hard for what you want, and are glad there's a character that exemplifies that.

A person may be able to relate to Shikamaru because they are lazy as well. Or maybe it's because they're smart. Or maybe it's simply because they know what it's like to lose someone who you looked up to and cared a lot about.

A person may be able to relate to Hinata because they understand what it's like to have high expectations set against you, and not being able to meet them. They may be able to relate to the feeling of disappointing people who were relying on you or people you care about. They may be able to relate to what it's like to not be very good at something no matter how badly you try to be. And Hinata might end up being their favorite character because they see that it's okay to do that because you can pick it up and try again.

Your criteria for a favorite character might not be the same as someone else's. A character may be someone's favorite because they like their personality the best. Or because they were emotionally moved the most by their story. Or because they like the way they fight the most. Or because they simply enjoyed the manga the most when it was scenes involving them or focused on them.

If you only like characters that were spoon fed to you and shoved in your face the entire time, then you may be a bit shallow.

I would try to take you seriously, but can't since its sounds you didn't read what I typed. Just know a character isn't garbage just because they given much screen time. If apply that thinking to every story then every character that is main protagonist or antagonistic, is horrible. Which is childish and dumb.

I did read your post, and by the context of it, it seems that you are making excuses to like garbage. Kishi knew better not to give these useless fodders more screen time than what he did.

You must relate to the more mentally challenged characters then. Probably not smart enough to realize it either.

How so? I like the characters that actually have relevance and got stuff done in the story. maybe you should rephrase your post.
