Well, Kishi is headed in the direction of making all ninjas obsolete in his story, since the characters are in an era of peace... however, he does hold some conservative views regarding an "ideal" family structure. To him, this is a happy ending for Sakura/Hinata, because they no longer have to fight and struggle, and have gotten the men they desired and are raising happy families with them. Of course, that's less true in Sakura's case.
So far, no one in the village appears to be going on missions. It feels like Sasuke is the last "ninja" left, protecting the village from the shadows while Naruto handles the politics.
