How can anyone whose watched both versions honestly like 2011 over 1999? I was trying as hard as I could to let this go but I just reached episode 76 of the 2011 run and I can't take it anymore.
If you compare the 2 on a point to point basis the only thing the 2011 series has going for it is pacing as it took the 99 series 70-80 episodes to finish Greed Island where as 76 of 2011 begins the Chimera ant arc. The art is pretty much equal 2011 having a little brighter of colors but I liked that there were different colors to the nen in 99, glad to see 2011 started applying that as well(it seemed like, in the 99 version, that an aura had a specific color based on the type of fighter enhancer, conjurer etc.)
My biggest problem with the 2011 version however is how loosely they follow the manga. I've heard people on here saying it's more in line than the 99 version but I don't see it. 2011, made Leorio and Kurapika get tricked by Tonpa in the hunter exam, never showed Gon's initial meeting with Kite which spurred his motivation to find Ging(in fact the whole meeting between Kite and Gon/Killua in ep 76 was purely improvised(there were no ants he didn't use his skill yet and Killua never got attacked) I know there's more but these are the most fresh in my mind right now.
Anyway I digress, back to my question, after watching both series up to the end of Greed Island what makes those of you who choose 2011 over 1999 do so?
