He can not freely manipulate it or change it, while having MS activated or that at least what I got from manga.

Show me this manga page explaining that he has to overlap? Because i am sceptical of this... i am pretty sure that he can make his hole body intangible not just parts, even so soul ripping still wouldnt work because there is no connection to the physical body
