that would be kool but it can lead to errors thats why bulletin board code(bb code was invented)it could cause security leaks even thought the forum is coded with php and with the echo or print variables.You can ask him to add more bb code tags.like the [move]and [shadow] tags which add effects to words.Theres also and [embed] tag awell.

Madara Thats Html BUt he doesnt understand that its not realy html its php printed to the document with the print or echo variables.If you have a serveer and php installed and configed to work then enter this and you`ll see what I`m talking about.
Code:
<html>
<head>
<title>Showing Php
</title>
</head>
<body>
<?php
//this prints html

echo "hello world I`m using php";
$add=5;
$money=1+5;
echo "$money";
echo "$add";
echo "Add then together" $money+$add;
</?>
</body>
</html>
Its shoudl say hello world I`m using php
6
5
and then 11.
Note Close all your argeuments and codes with ; or you`ll get an error. If you dont have a server and are using windows download WAMP(google it for the download) and LAMP for linux
(WAMP stands for Windows apache mysql and php)Save it as a text file but end the saving with .php (when you see save file as it will have text document(.txt))When you do this put it in the www directorty and access it via (water ever you save it as and you should see the html print.)You can echo/print any html tags like the table tag or even the frame tags.Php works better with xml though.Let me know how it goes.

this site is php look for the php right after the /newreply.Html doesnt make the site work php does with a data base like mysql.If Versuvio let members use html he`d have to specify which tags could be used so there wont be any javascript or php in the scripts.That couldnt take long but must members only know bb code.The html tags could cause site problems if you leave tags open(with out the </>) It could lead to a whole lot of other comlictions thats why most forums dont allow html because its to much of a hassel.If you realy wont it that bad Pm Versuvio and ask him about it and he`ll tell you the same thing that I juts told you.Trust me I have my own forum.

I am fully against this because many sites have tried their hardest to "filter" various user script elements and quite frankly you just can't ever do it. BB Code was created because of the futility of filtering markup languages. For example, you block out all <script></script> tags.. is that enough? Nope.. I just use an <img> tag to load some javascript through the onLoad="" tag.. or maybe an <a> tag using the onClick="" event. There are plenty of these attributes which you can plug javascript code into and that wouldn't be a good thing.

Some of you might ask, why would it be a bad thing if JavaScript was enabled? Well, take for example if I was to use a redirection (document.location) to pass you off to a NarutoBase fake login page to make i look like you're session has timed out. I wonder how many of you would fall for it and try to login without even looking at the address bar (in the process giving me your password).. I'd say a lot of you considering over 250,000 members of MySpace fell victim to the exact same attack not so long ago. I remember around 5 years ago a XSS attack on Yahoo! where several users were inserting a redirection, but in that case they were using javascripts ability to manage cookies, and they stole the users cookie files off of their computers without the user ever having to see the remote site they were passed off to. The cookie files were later cracked and the users lost their accounts.. I wonder if this site uses Cookies or Sessions to authenticate. :-?

See my point. Both Yahoo! and MySpace thought they had really good filters setup also (MySpace actually has a team of people whose job is simply to come up with filters for their web design to protect their network) and both of them fell victim to XSS attacks by allowing HTML based posting over the safer BB Code. To think that, with much less man power, that you are going to be able to protect against any possible XSS designed attack is just total cockiness. Personally, I think anyone who would want HTML would probably have ulterior motives. But that's just me.

PHP you won't have to worry about because it's a server side scripting language and since all data we type here is stored in a database, it'd never be executed only displayed on the user end. Cross Site Scripting (XSS) is your primary issue in this case.

Thanks Tsukoshi for the explain BB code is just that bulletin board code.This will mess up the css any the forum in general if you leave open certain tags.I`m not trying to be mean or cut down your idea since it is good but if you ask for more bb codes and find the hacks Versuvio might add them.To make the text size and color you`d have a lot of tags here save this file as a text document undr the save as and take off the .txt and put .htm.
Code:
<html>
<head><title></title></head>

<body>
<font color="crimson" size="5"><b>See the color and size?</b></font>
</body>
</html>
with bb code you can add glow and shadow with out adding the styles to them like blink would be a span style and would be a whole lot of typing but with bbcode you can just add .I`m not saying your idea is bad but for forums bb code works best and isnt as confusing as html.Php is a server side script like Tsukoshi said and all the info is stored in a cookie and a database like mysql.What your copying down is what the $display_block and print/echo variables print out.Print/echo print in html or regular text.So you never see the php but at the end of the index page theres the .php.Check out madara sticky post in this forum and look for my post with bbcodes on it if you need help.Also ask Versuvio which bbcodes are on the site.
