My clones used their Byakugans and the Flowing water movement technique as you made your clones, so it was before you go underground to attack them. Their movements would make it difficult for you to attack them effectively, so they'd see you as you come out of the ground to attack and be able to block and counter.

not long, I have 360 degree vision with the byakugan, so the second you stop moving insanely fast with Mayfly I'm able to see you.
