They're present in pretty much every arc though, they all get the Team Asuma treatment they got with their arc.
Are you planning to write that later then because I couldn't make any of it out.
Chikara introduces Kabuto as a proper threat and shows the foundations of the upcoming War arc, more than anything it's a different arc. Actually seeing Team Kakashi go on a 'normal' mission is something we havent seen since the Zabuza arc, of course it turns nasty with Kabuto but it paces out the insane speed and intensity the surrounding arcs are doing. (Jiraiya VS Pain, huge Itachi hunt arc, Pain Invasion etc)
Yes, but the characters are filler characters along with the story. Beyond the arc, there's no more development or lasting meaning for it. For example, Zabuza and Haku. They were the introductory arc and had nothing to do with Orochimaru or Akatsuki, but at the end of the day, they left a lasting effect on the characters, their village was one of the five mains that was expanded on and eventually did wind up being connected to Akatsuki.
To me the Will of Fire is practically canon already, it's a character development arc more than anything else. I always felt like the actual concept of the 'Will of Fire' was never truly explored and it really is an interesting concept yet in the series it only really seems to belong to Asuma and Shikamaru.
I disagree there. The will of fire is the core ideal of the hokages, their founding of Konoha and the villages and making peace with the world. I don't believe every character has to state they follow it in every battle. That would make it stale. Yes, I liked Hiruko as an antagonist and his powers, skills and connections to Kakashi and the sannin were great, but as I stated, beyond that, it is filler and doesn't have a large impact on the story. Perhaps if you gave him minions from several villages similar to Akatsuki and Orochimaru's sound shinobi as well as expanded on Hiruko's story with the sannin and Kakashi more, that would help.
This arc strengthens the bond between Kakashi and Naruto and Team 7 as a whole without Sasuke, features all of K11 working together and gives closure to the previous Shikamaru/Asuma storyline.
I think Asuma and Shikamaru's storyline had enough closure in the hidan and kakauzu arc as well as the forth war. Well, maybe a little more development in the war but I believe Kishimoto's douchebag editors and publishers forced him to rush it in several parts.
There is a LOT of closure for Shikamaru in this movie which breaks my heart that people don't consider as 'actually happening.'
But Shikamaru already received his closure in the hidan and kakuzu arc. He defeated Hidan, acknowleded the will of fire and let Asuma go after one last mourning for him and then quitting his smoking lols. Even in the war arc, he was incredibly focused and did not break down when he saw Asuma and when Asuma returned to the afterlife because he had already let him go. Shikamaru doesn't exactly need closure either considering he became a captain in the war, a chuunin proctor, fire guardian candidate and now wishes to be Naruto right hand man if not the hokge himself.
Danzo basically makes Konoha a dictatorship and on total hostile lockdown to other villages.
Yes and I like the idea, but it just isn't consistent with the timeline. Konoha was a pile of rubble with barely a stable wall at the time. It had no defense so how could it possibly be a hostile threat? Now if you wish to make the root catacombs danzou's last stand, almost like a world of warcraft raid lols that's good, but I don't get the whole village lockdown part. I doubt many would have followed danzou anyway. Everyone knew he was an ursurper bastard and they were all loyal to Tsunade. He didn't even let them vote. He just silver tongued his way through the elders and the daimyo and took advantage of the village being ruined and the upcoming kage summit.
Naruto is captured because he's a Jin and Konoha is temporarily against all outside intruders or anybody who would stand against Danzo.
Okay, how exactly would they capture Naruto then? Who would capture him? Danzou? How would they overcome the kyuubi, his mass clones and senjutsu? We're talking about the main character who defeated the leader of Akatsuki.
You think? I always saw Itachi as a loose cannon, even before we knew the secret.
I had my suspicians, but I was never sure, and countless believe there wasn't enough foreshadowing for it and that Kishimoto changed him from what he initially wanted him to be.
I don't think this gives it away and Itachi's dialogue would still be shown as ominous, I don't think an audience could still make that leap.
But you just said you did lols. you said you always considering him a loose canon. But fair point I suppose.
And I genuinely just couldn't think up a death for Kisame. Most likely in the clash between the Leaf & the Akatsuki, considering both want his head. He can protect Itachi and make sure nobody interrupts the fight with his brother-
You have to remember though, Kisame was incredibly loyal to Tobi. You'd have to weigh that with his loyalty to Itachi. Kisame is a character with ideals and principles himself after all.
it's better than having Suigetsu kill him anyway.
I actually have several ideas how to kill Kisame in my version and having a difficult time choosing one and yes Suigetsu is one version lols. I actually liked the rivalry they began developing.
You can still the Tenchi Bridge intel without his death, he can still give it as a 'reward' for his defeat against a shinobi he takes a personal liking to (Kakashi, Shikamaru or Naruto presumably) as it never really was a reward anyway and more a way for Sasori getting the Leaf to do his dirty work.
Fair point, although I really liked Sasori's death. I believe it was built up well with Chiyo, his backstory, how formidable Deidara made him out to be and how long and epic his fight was. I just don't see any reasoning behind letting him live beyond his arc unless you wish to keep his backstory under wraps or make him relevant later. For Deidara, it made sense because he had a backstory with Itachi and his background was left underwraps. See what I'm saying?
Kimimaro is more fair but I see that as a minor one and a small change or reason can fix that.
I look forward to it. I forgot to mention it did have a bit of a compelling streak to it by making him Karin's mother's killer, although I think that role could have been handled to any number of other antagonists including a completely new one. You'd probably also have to completely reshape Kimimaro;s fight with Gaara and Lee as I think it greatly influenced Gaara and Kimimaro's ideals were shaken it in just before he died.
Honestly I left this as ambiguous on purpose. The idea is that Naruto understands that there is an inescapable cycle- just it doesn't have to be a bad one. He can't break it he and Sasuke should just fix it. And so Naruto gets to guide his son through in the way his own father never could. Orochimaru and the 10 tails is never actually meant to be resolved and is an open ending like Soul Eater or The Incredibles for example. Honestly this final bit is optional, I just personally liked it.
Lol I like open endings, but not THAT open. Yes, my ending involves Orochimaru too, albeit a bit differently. I like Naruto accepting conflict as the human condition however as it keeps things realistic.
I just wasn't a fan of how all that stuff and the obligatory training arc was stitched on with the actual Invasion. Pacing.
I thought it fit pretty well. In the end, Naruto could not defeat Pein with just his senjutsu and had to break him down with his berserked Kyuubi cloak.
The guy is a nut. By the end of his story anyway- I would never call him cold...he's not very robotic at all and has always been quite an outspoken and cocky character really.
Maybe I chose my words wrong. What I meant was he almost always seemed calm even when things unexpected happened. He was very intelligent and always had a backup plan. Maybe if you explained what would make him emotional and break him down, I could understand? Possibly Itachi playing words games with him? Dredging up his past throughout the fight? But in the end, it wouldn't be much of a fight because Kabuto would be emotionally ailed. Sure Itachi went easy on Sasuke, but he still hit him with all his techs and brought everything he had out, which in the end weakened Sasuke.
If you're interested the basic revised fight is

, and I personally don't see it as being out of character for him. I play up the identity crisis and the slow decay of his sanity over the course of the fight.
I'll check it out soon. I didn't really comprehend him losing his mind, just being consumed a bit with power. If he were nuts, he wouldn't have been as calculative as he was in that fight and Itachi and Sasuke TOGETHER no less wouldn't have struggled with him.
Thanks for my favourite post of the thread, hope you enjoyed reading it!
Sure thing and I did.
