He was suffering from an illness so i'd imagine that would have a great impact on his stamina which could be a deciding factor in battles.

I think he could have survived the War, but the Marine got some attacks in when he was distracted and Blackbeard didn't make it any easier.

Vibrations can travel through the air. Flying wouldn't get him anywhere.
Assuming Yamamoto doesn't pull that spirit crap (Guess it could be taken care of with Haki? As Haki is Will Power, Reiatsu is Spirit Power...), Whitebeard definitely.
