Clearly you missed the point. Once again, that's not how it works. Doffy isn't a forum member following the manga where he applies strength to one character simply because a character that was initially hyped to be inferior shows it. If Doffy thinks Law and Luffy is below Vergo, and Luffy is above Law, but then sees Law defeat Vergo, he's gonna put Law above Vergo, but Luffy will stay in the same place because Luffy didn't show anything to be moved. He originally thought it was Vergo>>>Luffy>Law. Law defeating Vergo puts Law at the top of the list with Luffy at the bottom. Doffy isn't gonna think Luffy is stronger than he initially assumed if Luffy himself doesn't do something that shows so.

I can see where you are getting at but Law defeating Vergo is not good enough to change his mind about Luffy unless Luffy does something that cannot stand up to his expectations. But something like that never happened and it was Law who exceeded his expectations but that won't effect Luffy's position as the reason due to which Joker thought that Luffy is better than Law was not effected by Law's battle with Vergo.

Luffy's background gives him a large identity than Law's. Being the family of the most infamous and one of the most respected criminals and Marines respectively, plus Luffy's own actions, makes him more infamous than Law. If Doflamingo was referring to identity and reputation, then he would have included Law in common pirate because, by reputation, Law is far more common than Luffy.
As I said before it won't change the fact that he's a pirate. Luffy having better background than Law has nothing to do with our argument as we are talking about their identity not reputation. Law was associated with WG which is why he was special for marines where as Luffy is just a criminal like any other pirate which is why Joker was asking Smoker about why he let them leave PH.

Doflamingo wasn't comparing them to Smoker, that part of your argument is fallible. Plus, just a post ago you were asking if the Strawhats were really lightweights to Law. So which is it, a comparison to Law, or a comparison to Smoker?

It was both, going by what you have been implying the statement goes like this

' I(Joker) know that Law is too much for you(Smoker) to stop but SH's were just light weights so why didn''t you stop them? '

According to my interpretation:

'Law is a shichibukai so it makes sense for you to let him leave this place but SH's just normal pirates so you shouldn't let them go away.

That's how I see this.

I knew you were missing the point. Law defeating Vergo didn't make Doffy change his mind about Luffy, it made him change his mind about Law. He thought Law was a certain level, and thought Luffy might be ahead of him. He said Luffy was probably above Law, meaning he was on the fence about it. Law defeating Vergo could have made him go "Oh wait never mind, Law had more credit than I'm giving him."

I disagree with how you see it for this reason that I'll copy and paste:
It also wouldn't be much of an issue with Law being a Shichibukai. Doflamingo knows that a Shichibukai who is allies with a pirate crew loses their privileges and can be arrested. He knew Law and Luffy were allies when he got to Punk Hazard, and he clearly knew Smoker was aware of their presence and ventures, so it would have been acceptable for Smoker to arrest Law(as he tried to do earlier which resulted in him losing his heart), and it's possible this occurred to Doflamingo.
