First of all, before he died, his brother Izuna told him not to trust the Senju and to defend the honor of the Uchiha. Now Madara being practically ostracized by the people of Konoha, despite being one of the high diplomas of Konohagure, did add to his hatred. Madara was also hated by his own clan; they had become complacent and thought that Madara was trying to start another war. To add to that pain, Madara had the reoccurring thought that he was living in the same village with Tobirama whom had killed brother and there was no way for him to exact revenge because he was “powerless”. The “betrayal” of his clan memebers accompanied with him feeling like he betrayed his late brother’s wishes and how he couldn’t defeat Hashirama finalized it.

TLDR: I don’t think he cared about the spiteful civilians that much, there were other things more pressing to him.

No that was only that little girl. She was a child. Young children have a tendency to shy away from people who look intimidating to them (even though the person may have no ill will). My own little cousin once even backed away from me and hid behind his dad's leg. He warned up to me though over the course of that family vacation. Until we have proof, nobody else did that to Madara.
Don't you think people froze when like he complained about something?
Like:

"This product you gave me is broken"
"We can't give you any other in return.....What's your name so I register your complain"
"Madara Uchiha"
"Hm............ *frozen*

Or:

"Your store is so organized!"

"Thanks *whispers* like your army the day you destroyed my cousin's clan you monster!"

Poor guy can't even compliment.

As one of the founders of the village I think he was respected just as much as Hashirama as long as he kept working for the village. But maybe some people and kids were scared of him due to his personality.

I honestly can't see people warm to him like they were to Hashirama.

Remember that filler part? Hashirama was walking around women, old men, kids.
Madara was behind bar together with two guys alone talking.
Do you think he avoided shiny places?

Madara wasn't a people person imo after what he went through and being an uchiha and an Indra transmigrant at that. The only person he could open up to probably was Hashirama. But being one of the founder I think he was respected as much as Hashirama himself but just wasn't as easy to approach as Hashirama.

Maybe in time his popularity diminished as other clans joined but it probably wasn't the case when the village was formed by the senju and uchiha clans.

Yes kiiro, but how do you think that Madara's daily life was?
Very bad since he wanted what Hashirama wanted and knew, from the way he was being treated, that Hashirama peace concept was not gonna preserve.

That might helped to change the concept that he and Hashirama had to look for real peace. So, he was treated bad therefore looked for an other way for peace.

Do you think that's why he froze when he heard Sarutobi and Shimura were approaching?

Like: "Oh my goodness, the clan of people that hate me all over are coming to town"

I know the Senju also hated him. But since the Uchiha were loosing and they had Hashirama as a good medic, I suppose they had less deaths - and hated less than reallllly weaker clans.

Do you think Madara overheard some time things like: "Monster" ------but could do nothing because he would prove them right?

Do you think it was that persons he was talking about of how everybody was misundestanding him - not only the Uchiha?

Could you imagine some scenarios for us? Like: Madara is going to a bar and then the waiter drops sake in him. The waiter frozes and starts begging pardon almost in his knees lol
Is that why Hashirama indirectly mentioned that Madara gets embarassed often?

It is a possibility that other clans had a grudge against him due to confrontations in the past but it could be the same for Hashirama as well. I mean the uchihas weren't the only ones the senju fought. And I believe Madara's contribution in building the village was just as much as Hashirama's and he shared the same vision as Hashirama. So I doubt it was just Madara who had to hear such things but the same must've happened with Hashirama as well depending on the clan that was joining the village. At least I think that was the case. All the hate and mistrust among the clans dissolved slowly imo.

But maybe the hate was directed towards Madara since they thought he was a relic of the past?
Nice insight with Hashirama's character.
I wonder if he lost badly in the election. Like only his vote for himself vs 197950 votes for Hashirama

Maybe yes, because he seemed really gloomy when Hashirama was with the Hokage outfit. I presume that's just after the election.

How do you think he dealt with it? Like he didn't have family anymore and he couldn't speak freely with Hashirama about his OWN personal problems.

As long as he worked with Hashirama to build the village I doubt anyone thought of him to be a relic of the past.

Its only when he began to lose faith in Hashirama and became more cold that people saw him like that imo.

I doubt Madara would've mind Hashirama becoming the Hokage had he not overheard Hashirama and Tobirama's conversation about the Hokage election. Madara already hated Tobirama and hearing those things from him only fueled his anger and made him lose faith in Hashirama's methods. By the time Hashirama became the Hokage, it was too late to undo the damage.

We all know what happened after that.

No, I don't think people froze over stuff like that. Do remember that they were all previously in a state of war, so anybody who Madara killed most likely wasn't killed due to any personal grudges. It was just business and survival. I'm pretty sure the people would have known that too, and not looked at Madara with any contempt or disgust (or at least no more contempt than they would look at Hashirama or any other famous combatant from the war). I believe that Madara was respected (like some other members have said) until he started trying to get the Uchihas to leave the village. That is when people started accusing him of trying to rekindle the fires of war. As for him sitting in bars alone, I believe that this was just Madara's style. If he was anything like his spiritual successor Sasuke or his past life Indra, then he was probably an introverted guy. Remember, even when we first saw kid Madara in Hashirama's flashback, Madara was skipping rocks alone. Not with friends. He was alone. Now that alone doesn't mean or guarantee anything, but I could easily see Madara having been the laid back loner type of guy.

People were probably pretty awkward around him.
hes as strong as they come and he doesnt look very approachable.
i imagine people being polite but stumbly around him,
not wanting to piss him off, but also not trying to shoo him away

i have the following theories
1 - Madara was not charismatic and didn't know how to babisyt and play with children so kids hated him
2 - Konoha was homophobic
3 - Madara was a pedo (I don't believe this one)
