Nah I mean if the kunai is on the ground, or a seal is on the ground that susanoo has stepped over. Allowing Minato to teleport inside, of course a regular kunai could never penetrate the susanoo itself, but below the susanoo is not defended from what we've seen, allowing it to step over a seal. Although I do wonder how long Itachi would be able to keep that susanoo up while attempting to tag Minato however, even if Minato manages not to get inside he can evade for quite a while, which ends up being a cat and mouse chase. God Itachi and Minato threads make my head hurt :Sparks:

I'm sure he's aware of the sharingans prowess allowing him to focus on the enemies feet, after all he grew up in the time of the Uchihas. The only problem he will have is being unpredictable enough with his teleportation, which is why if Itachi plays it right he can tag him, but if Minato plays it right with his arsenal then he wins. Minato Itachi threads can always go either way imo, they are just that strong.

Ephemeral is an issue, however two ways Minato can avoid it is by breaking through it with sheer power. Ephemeral are genjutsu of high caliber, however it is not nearly as powerful as tsuki as it can be broken out of through the assistance of another ninja. Naruto couldnt break out of it at the beginning of shippuden, as his chakra was just too weak being chunin level and all, however a kage level like Minato should be able to disrupt Itachi's flow of chakra.

The second way is by obstructing Itachi's vision through sheer speed, which is another way of combating genjutsu. If Itachi cannot focus on Minato he cannot target his genjutsu. The 1st way however does rely on how fast Minato can break the genjutsu.

Maybe not the kunai, but he can step over a pebble with the seal hidden under it. Minato can place an infinite number of seals all around a battle field whether it's behind a tree, rock, your moms ass, a leaf, or a shuriken, possibilities are endless

that would work theoretically, but during such a battle, there would be dozens and dozens of seals placed all around the battlefield. During such a high stakes battle, Itachi keeping watching of every single seal WHILE combating someone as fast and quick witted as Minato will lead to his defeat. If he does that all he will be doing is playing defense, his best option is focusing on killing Minato as quickly as possible.

Truth of the matter is Minato warps away Susano'o two or three times and Itachi would already be on the ground dying.
