I'm just gonna go ahead and copy-paste a comment I made on a thread a while ago, which I got no responses to.

I don't even understand how these "Sage is an Uzumaki" threads make any sense. When has it ever been stated that the Uzumaki clan even EXISTED during the Sage's time?? The Uchiha Clan DESCENDED from his older son, the Senju Clan DESCENDED from his younger son. i.e, they didn't exist beforehand. It has been stated that the Uzumaki Clan are distant RELATIVES of the Senju... implying that the Senju came first. It's illogical to say that the Sage was an Uzumaki. They descended from him, distantly. There were no "Uzumakis" during his time.

If I'm just totally missing something and the idea that the Sage was an Uzumaki can absolutely be explained using facts from the manga, then someone please enlighten me. I'm so willing to admit that I'm wrong, but right now I've seen nothing that really concretely explains the logic behind this idea.

He is not an uzumaki. People on the base just made some theories, some did make sense a little bit but it wouldn't make sense if he was an uzumaki, that would mean decendants of uzumaki would carry uchiha/senju like power.

There is nothing concrete. It is simply a theory.

And to say that the Uzumaki's came after the Senju because they're distant relatives says nothing.

It could be possible, we know little of the uzumaki clan. I'm pretty sure that we will get more information about them and that could be by making the sage an uzumaki.

Its just another theory that someone made, sadly it brainwashed half the base into believing it.Usually theories get bulldozed by every new chapter.

It's a theory created by people around the base. It has a good amount of facts to prove it, therefore it is widely accepted.

The Uchiha Clan DESCENDED from his older son, the Senju Clan DESCENDED from his younger son. i.e, they didn't exist beforehand. They descended from him, distantly. There were no "Uzumakis" during his time.

You're making the assumption that the statement: "The Uzumaki are relatives of the Senju" means that the Senju came first. Remember, the person who told us this was Obito, who has become quite obsessed with the whole Uchiha blood-line mantra.

The Uzumaki were well established - being able to become their own village not long after the Senju and Uchiha created the Leaf. Given that the Uzumaki keep crawling out of the wood-work while the Senju were small (even during the clan wars) and seem to have largely evaporated... it would imply that the Uzumaki have a much larger population that has likely been around far longer.

Their specialty in sealing jutsu is also rather suspect. If ninjutsu did not exist prior to the sage - then the Uzumaki sealing arts make sense as to how the Sage was able to seal the Juubi. The life and vitality, also, would have been instrumental in utilizing his weapons. We must accept that the Sage, himself, was either the first Senju - or an Uzumaki.

If I'm just totally missing something and the idea that the Sage was an Uzumaki can absolutely be explained using facts from the manga, then someone please enlighten me. I'm so willing to admit that I'm wrong, but right now I've seen nothing that really concretely explains the logic behind this idea.

If the Uzumaki were descended from the Senju, wouldn't there be more wide-spread information or documentation about it?

And what of the Hyuuga?

There are two general reasons for this. First is that the events are ancient history and have long since faded from common and even institutional knowledge. Second, is that the author is deliberately concealing the details surrounding these other groups.

The two are not mutually exclusive. We just haven't had the appropriate context to reveal this information. With the Juubi being from the time of the Sage, and the tailed beasts alluding to Naruto resembling the Sage - I suspect we will soon be within an appropriate context for the Uzumaki and Hyuuga to be given much more attention.

This is not proof, it's a theory, hence the prefix.

And a summary of those theories would be something along the lines of:

The sage has been involved in some pictures where there are whirlpool-like circles, so he must be an Uzumaki!
