How is itachi uchiha a genius

It's a manga, we don't take things literally on manga's, you don't compare the things that happen in this world to things that happen in real life.

Thats why we read these things in the first place, to escape reality.

Who said I was camparing? Im saying what a smarter person would do. Genius don't limit themselves to the options giving to them. They make new ones. Perfect example. Shikamaru. He never limit himself to a few option. He makes new ones.

I guess depending on your definition of "genius" itachi could be thought of as not one.

But his natural talent, ability to analyze a jutsu in battle, and plan things so far in advance defines him as a genius in my book.

How is itachi a genius.
He made poor life decisions and he hasn't done anything that would mark him a true genius like let's say orochimaru and minato.
He hasnt created any jutsu. I give him points for unlocking susanoo
He wasn't the first to get ms. He actually is second to last.
And all his plans for sasukes future failed greatly. He created a monster and Put the shinobi world and konoha in jeopardy.
Why would a genius fill his little brothers life with hatred and force him to lean towards revenge.
To be honest he is no genius.
But he is one of the most blessed shinobi to ever live. He was born with unbelievable talent. And is a sharingan master. Just not a genius.

All he did was master sharingan at an extremely young age, joined ANBU at 13, went toe-to-toe with Kakashi and beat him on less than half strength, fooled everyone in the shinobi world into thinking he was a traitor, including (arguably) the entire akatsuki, thought far enough ahead to implant MS into Sasuke, A crow with Shishui's eye inside Naruto, break Kabuchimaru's control of his body from Edo Tensei, etc. etc.

Itachi plans things years before they actually happen, like giving naruto shisuis eye without letting naruto know, and eventually the eye broke him out of Edo tensei's hold... not genius, hmmmmmmmm i think he is.

That was one of the biggest failed plans. The eye was suppose to be used for sasuke. It got wasted on him. A dead person.

ehh I think in the context of the word genius in naruto is used more for someone who learns quickly. as kakashi refers to sasuke as a genius as he is helping naruto understand that it will take time to fuse his chakra nature and rasengan. Genius usually refers to something ou excel at like rock lee is a genius of effort. Shikamaru is a genius when think of stratetgies

all in all, I think itachi was a genius when it come to learning new techs, though he may have not had the best hinesight. lol
