I would say she was and avg to above avg Jounin.
-She displayed amazing genjutsu skill when she fought Itachi(of course getting an Uchiha in a genjutsu is almost impossible)
-At the begining of part 1, I do believe Asuma said she was new to the whole Jounin thing.
--So she could have only got stronger until the end of part 1
-Not many ninjas a skilled in genjutsu but she is, which is important in any fight and can turn the tides for a win.

-Compared to the other jounins in Konoha she isn't the best but she can beat a good amount of ninjas

Who cares? There wasn't more to it than bitting her tongue, everyone can do that.
She hasn't shown anything else than her tree genjutsu, she's a jonin level, but that's as far as it can get

She isn't a pushover or she wouldn't have been a peer of Kakashi and Asuma. During the fight in part one she took on Itachi, though probably because she was the logical choice, but she still kept pace with him.

Itachi would have won the fight, exploding shadow clone would have hurt her if not for Kakashi, but it still says a lot about her skill. I say genjutsu vs someone without eyes like Kakashi and Itachi she wins. Close quarters combat average and intellect above average.

She has a fairly strong genjutsu and she was fast enough in Part 1 to stop Neji, along with Kakashi and Gai, from killing Hinata. Whose level do you think she is on when not pregnant? Darui? Kitsuchi?

She is a 29.5 in the databook. and her genjutsu rivals Itachi's. So, there you go.
