Title says it all. Any ideas? I don't think it's from taking Obito's eye since Kakashi doesn't actually kill Obito.

he got it because of the emotions of his closes friends dying. in order to obtain MS doesn't mean you get it by merely killing ur best friend but by feeling emotion of them dying infront of your eyes.
I think you get MS from realizing and accepting a loss of a loved one.

I do read the manga. I didn't ask how he got the sharingan, I asked about his MS. You don't read the English language that well, do you?

Yes, exactly but it's a little vague, i mean Kakashi should've had it the second he got his Sharingan implanted when he was experiencing the emotions of Obito's death, why didn't he use it even though he was in life/threatening situations before, like Itachi's fight with him, if he had it he should've been able to break through Tsukyumi.
But the Kamui technique is not Kakashi's original technique it's Obito's original physical technique "a variant of Amaterasu in terms of the Mangekyo's physical attack" he just implanted it and used it's power, just like Danzo's right implanted Sharingan, he also possesses Shisui's total mind control technique.
There are also opinions that he activated his Mangekyo Sharingan through hard work over the years he got more and more acquainted with the sharingan, but nothing is 100% true yet it's still needs to be cleared.

Yes I do. I have a 96 in English 114. You ask how he got Ms and I told you. The only death that we know of that will develop towards him having Ms is Obito. Just a assumption but it is the most likely candidate.

It's peculiar to ask this now since Kakashi has had the mangekyou sharingan for so many years of the series.

Perhaps Kakashi witnessed Rin's death or found out about her death and that awakened it. He's always apologizing to Obito for not protecting her.
