I don't understand a word shogun973 has said so far but yeah he sealed the flames to do research on it some other time, he never put the flames out. The flames might still be burning somewhere else and Jiraiya could probably unseal it unless someone chooses to put out the flames, like when Sasuke puts out his own amaterasu. The flames also stop once they have burnt out whatever they were used on so they would go out eventually shogunnumber guy. This is a technique used from really early on in the anime and we haven't seen it happen again so don't worry about it.

Once jiraiya sealed it in his scroll it's now in a pocket dimension to be preserved
So it's probably still burning there but it can't destroy anything
