How does Amaterasu actually work?

Sasuke was using amaterasu purely as a defense against Gaara's sand, he has flame control he can control the power of his amaterasu

I'm pretty sure if Sasuke used it as a attack, Gaara's sand would have turned to glass

It didn't burn Naruto's arm because it never made contact with his arm, the chakra pushed it away. If lava can burn Naruto while he's coated in Kurama's chakra, surely Amaterasu can do the same.

A majority of the characters in the series would be done for if caught in Amaterasu. Only because a handful of Shinobi can do something about it people think it's "fodder."

If Amaterasu were really so hot, convection alone would kill everyone in a room, Amaterasu sucks and is a fail and took way more than three seconds to even climb up Ay's arm.

Oh wow, it made Ay lose an arm, big freakin whoop, the flames that burned Anakin hurt him worse in like, five seconds, and those were regular damn flames, not super indestructible black flames. In regards to the Juubi, it was burning him slow enough that he could take it off like a mild rash.

When cast, amaterasu is nearly instant, but not quite. It is also weak to basic wind jutsu's e.g. Anything with repulsive push can neg diff it. Kurama's chakra is also repellent to amaterasu, and it can also be sealed like Jiraiya did.

It does burn chakra, not chakra itself but jutsu's stemmed from chakra manipulation.​

Amaterasu are basically flames that can burn forever, the juubi is massive so of course it will take time to cover the whole thing, amaterasu damaged/hurt every person or thing it touched and you still call it a fodder technique...... k
