I only read MP if it's the first version that's released. The low quality scans I can live with, but their translations often make me gag. I can understand that translating Japanese isn't easy, but their work is often just sloppy. Putting aside the English typo's they regularly leave empty text balloons behind and then add the text that was supposed to be in that balloon to another balloon on the next page which results in messed up conversations between characters.
I personally like it that MS uses English idioms and profanity as that makes the characters much more familiar. Realistically you can't just translate from Japanese to English and expect it to feel the same, there are bound to be differences. That's what MP mostly does: almost literally translating what it says, which results often in quite a bit of confusion as what they say in Japanese doesn't make much sense in English. The fact that MS can translate from a Japanese perception to an English one with rarely any important information loss is a testimony to their skill, but it seems some people in this thread don't like that. Well it's a personal preference after all, but I think it's rather difficult to say how a character is supposed to be unless you speak fluidly Japanese, so you could consider changing a Japanese idiom into an English one would be more closer to the real character than translating the Japanese idiom literally as we understand the first, while the latter can be confusing. Though I admit that MS sometimes goes too far and that a regular translation like that of MP would suffice, but that they then blew it up too much.
