I think the best friend thing came along because you have to go through a more traumatic experience than is required by the normal Sharingan. One thing you have to know is that it was itachi that said madara killed his best friend... Like how was he to know (could av been assuming cos he wasn't alive) and now that the actual story is unfolding I would recommend you take this as fact. It's just like kakashi saying 9 tails has unlimited chakra..(.like how would he know this info )but recently we see 9 tails take a break to gather chakra which overrides the statement


I would advice speculate when it's been talked about briefly but accept it as fact when the actual incident is shown.

Well I just noticed this in a thread, someone pointed it out ( thank you whoever that was, don't come in here and be a crude moron. ) and I wanted to make an actual discussion on it.

It was stated Madara and Izuna both killed their closest friends to gain the Mangekyou Sharingan. Madara's best friend is Hashirama, so I'm really starting to believe Kishi has left quite the plot hole gaping there. Madara didn't kill Hashirama or didn't plan to until the rise of the villages or the incident that we are about to see. He also wouldn't have been able to, so this plot hole remains quite clear until an explanation.

TL;DR It was said they killed their best friends to gain MS, Madara didn't kill Hashirama.

It was STATED Madara and Izuna killed their best friends to gain MS. At NO point did I say you HAD to kill your best friend to gain MS. It was clearly stated on a page that this is how they gained MS, now someone provide me with a proper explanation please?

It was STATED by Obito, and that kid is full of shit. They will most likely unlock it if they lose their father in the upcoming battle with Butsuma, Tobirama, Hashi.

That is not necessarily true, the fact that u kill ur best friend is irrelevant, it's the emotional upheaval that wakens MS, which can be felt with anyone important to you dying. It's much like becoming a super saiyan. Proof is how Sasuke got MS but didn't kill his best friend.

ms is not awakened by killing best friend alone - pay attentiont ot he manga it is awakened by severe emotional trama meaning madara may not have awakened it by killing hashi but maybe he will be force to do something that will make him question who he is and what eh is fighting for forcing the ms out of him

sasuke didnt get it by killing itachi he got it when he figured out itachi wasnt the enemy so again its not the death it the emotional trauma that awakes the ms

Well whoever it was who said it (Obito?) wasnt saying it specifically. Tobirama explained it clearly that MS is awakened from emotional trauma. Killing your best mate is just one out of the many ways to trigger an emotional trauma.
