Did you actually read the manga properly? In no place did it say they killed their best friend to unlock MS, just that they trained:

So its possible that they simply experienced another loss along the way or unlocked it after reaching a certain power coupled with loosing their brothers in the past.

In addition, you could say Madara and Hashirama and Izuna and Tobirama simply weren't best friends.

They had members of their respective clans that they were best friends with. Keep in mind also that they did not unlock EMS until their teenage years, so after this event we saw just now, they were no longer able to associate with eachother, so they likely made new and better friends later.

That statement was told by Itachi, he couldn't possibly know how they really obtained the Mangekyos. As far as we know, seeing someone important to you dying is enough for awakening the mangekyos, and don't forget that Izuna and Madara lost two brothers.

Madara and Izuna lost all their brothers. Madara felt responsible for their deaths and gained the Mangekyou Sharingan. The samething could have happened with Izuna.

i believe itachi said that you have to kill your closest friend to gain ms. but it was tobirama that said in order to get those eyes you have to experience a loss of some kind or emotional stress of somekind. so i dont think it has to be your closest friend it could be the loss of lets say your parent or someone close to you.

i think itachi said that because it is the easiest way to obtain it if it doesnt happen on it own.

Well I just noticed this in a thread, someone pointed it out ( thank you whoever that was, don't come in here and be a crude moron. ) and I wanted to make an actual discussion on it.

It was stated Madara and Izuna both killed their closest friends to gain the Mangekyou Sharingan. Madara's best friend is Hashirama, so I'm really starting to believe Kishi has left quite the plot hole gaping there. Madara didn't kill Hashirama or didn't plan to until the rise of the villages or the incident that we are about to see. He also wouldn't have been able to, so this plot hole remains quite clear until an explanation.

TL;DR It was said they killed their best friends to gain MS, Madara didn't kill Hashirama.
How is this post supposed to be read?

Someone didn't read the manga...

It was stated that Madara and Izuna became leaders of the Uchiha when they both unlocked Mangekyou Sharingan just THROUGH INTENSE TRAINING AND SIBLING RIVALRY. No other Uchihas have ever seen anyone achieve MS before in such a manner. Thus, they became the leaders.

Did Sasuke kill Naruto? Nope. Did Obito kill Kakashi? Nope. Did Kakashi kill Gai/Obito? Nope. Did Madara kill Hashi? Nope.
What I'm trying to say is that the whole "you must kill your best friend" from Part 1 has thoroughly been disproven. One must just simply suffer a great emotional trauma in order to awaken the MS.

Actually in Tobi/Obito's story to Sasuke he said it was through training and the murdering of the 1 closest person to them clearly not each other but you get the point

Did Sasuke kill Naruto? Nope. Did Obito kill Kakashi? Nope. Did Kakashi kill Gai/Obito? Nope. Did Madara kill Hashi? Nope.

Kakashi did kill Rin though....

I don't even want to discuss with you people. It's actually pitiful how one-sided and blind you are to the text on the screen. I'm out.

Alright, did NO ONE. Read the post properly.

It was STATED Madara and Izuna killed their best friends to gain MS. At NO point did I say you HAD to kill your best friend to gain MS. It was clearly stated on a page that this is how they gained MS, now someone provide me with a proper explanation please?
I'm trying to post as unbiased as possible, I haven't posted here one way or the other so anyway. I'm curious where exactly was that page you said it was "clearly stated" in? The problem here isn't people reading the post wrong imo, but it's the fact you didn't post the scan where it was said. Most people including me don't actually think it exists , since you did't post a scan, I don't recall this ever being said either so it warrants being skeptical. I'd look for the scan to support your argument for you but it's hard to look for something which possibly isn't even there.

I'd LOVE to discuss this blatant plot hole or retcon, which is what you WANTED people to talk about, but I can't discuss the scan since I don't know the contents of it, I'm not sure it even exists lol, I'm also pretty sure it was never said which is why I'm curious and want you to post it here, I'm just asking. If it does exist that's cool, but it seems like you saying you're out was just more like being proven wrong that the page never actually happened and not wanting to admit it. But hey maybe not it'd be cool if it really was said and you posted it here I would be pleasantly surprised and everyone else would read your post correctly and discuss it right, but when assuming it doesn't exist there's kind of no choice but to talk about the MS like they did.

Also I just reread the last paragraph, and I cant even understand what the hell I'm talking about, I'm far too tired to be posting on NB well I hope its slightly readable to someone else who's not me what the hell am I writing lol.
